  • Patent number: 6702037
Abstract: A pile and/or post pounder utilizing a tracked floating anvil and having a continuous loop for lifting a tracked hammer. The pounder is adapted to be transported on, and powered by the hydraulic system on any mobile construction equipment. It safely holds the post in position when pounding is commenced. The continuous loop, driven by a variable speed hydraulic motor, facilitates hammering at as high a rate as possible. The utilization of a floating anvil to pound a post is made possible by a floating anvil which is able to withstand severe lateral loading which results when the top portion of the post slides laterally outwards.

  • Patent number: 6105683
Abstract: The most dangerous task in mechanically driving a post into the ground is initially holding the post in an upright position while it is hammered to start it into the ground. When used with mobile equipment having an hydraulically driven post pounder the post picker not only eliminates the danger in starting a post into the ground, but additionally eliminates the necessity of using more than one man to do the job! A method is disclosed wherein a single hydraulic valve on a piece of mobile equipment may be used to control both the post picker and pounder.

  • Patent number: 5848871
Abstract: A hopper for moving and accurately placing granular materials and granular slurries. The hopper comprises: an elongate feed trough having two opposite end portions and an open top side portion so that the trough may be filled along the open top side portion; an elongate auger having flexible blades, to facilitate non-jamming operation, positioned in and extending along a bottom portion of the trough, said auger having a drive and a floating discharge end portion; a drive positioned adjacent to one end portion of the trough and releasably connected the drive end portion of the auger; a discharge sleeve positioned in the other end portion of the trough encircling the other floating discharge end portion of the auger.

  • Patent number: 5687832
Abstract: An auger for moving granular material and slurries of granular materials comprising: a shaft; a rigid inner blade portion fastened to and spiraling around the shaft; and a flexible substantially larger outer blade portion carried by the inner blade portion. In the preferred embodiment the flexible blade portion comprises belting cut into the shape of a split doughnut shaped disc. The split doughnut shaped disc has a larger inside diameter than the diameter of the shaft so that when it is rolled around the shaft and fastened to the rigid inner blade portion it extends more than one revolution therearound. The problem faced in the movement of granular materials is that rocks, stones or other non-uniformly large pieces of material predictably are present in the material being handled. These larger pieces sink to the bottom of the auger and jam between it and the bottom of a trough therebelow.
