  • Patent number: 6538626
Abstract: A display apparatus for selectively and independently controlling the illumination of two visual indicators with a single control line. The apparatus includes two visual indicators connected in parallel with the cathode to anode direction of one indicator being opposite the other indicator, and a logic circuit having two signal inputs and the control line. The control line couples to a first end of the two indicators. An inverter couples between the control line and a second end of the two indicators. A combination of signals applied to the two inputs selectively illuminates one of the two indicators with one signal from the control line.

  • Patent number: 6426593
Abstract: A display apparatus for selectively controlling the illumination of two dependent visual indicators with a single control line. The apparatus includes two visual indicators, two amplifiers, and a logic circuit. The same end of the two visual indicators connect to a conductive terminal. A first amplifier connects between the line and the other end of one indicator and a second amplifier connects between the line and the other end of the other indicator. A combination of signals applied to the two inputs selectively illuminates one or both indicators with one signal from the control line. The inventive circuit designs of the present invention are compact in size, elegant in its simplicity and operation, and miserly in its power consumption. Therefore, a minimal amount of power will be used to highly illuminate one or two visual indicators being dependent on one another with the use of a single control pin of an IC.

  • Patent number: 5350032
Abstract: A kit for power conversion of a manually powered wheelchair is provided wherein one or more power hubs are integrated into the rear drive wheels of such chair to effect propulsion thereof by means of a simple controller mounted to the armrest of the chair. This power conversion kit is unique in several respects in that it mounts to the existing frame of a wheelchair of "standard" design at the same location and through the same holes provided for mounting of the original rear wheels. Moreover, the conversion kit is further provided with a supporting fixture for the powered rear wheels which is designed to both (a) maintain the original clearances of the manually powered chair (so as not to subject the occupant to any inconvenience or distress in its operation) and (b) effectively shift the center of balance of the chair to enhance its stability during powered operation.

  • Patent number: 5156562
Abstract: A marker-retriever mountable on a fishing rod, hand tool, or other article to be used near water, for marking and retrieving the submerged article should the article be dropped into water; the marker-retriever including, generally, a housing comprising a fixed housing member, a releasable housing member, and a wrapper partially enclosing the housing members to maintain cooperation therebetween, attaching means for securing the housing to the article, a buoy disposed within the housing, release means for releasing the buoy from the housing when the article is submerged, and a line connecting the buoy to the attaching means.

  • Patent number: 4687198
Abstract: A recreational device with the shape of a dish or plate that can be manipulated to rotate and track over a bearing surface requiring considerable skill from the user. The dish device includes a platform that is rotatably mounted over a contact plate and a locking mechanism that allows the user to lock the rotation or allow, selectively, to rotate in one direction or the other. The platform in the preferred embodiment has substantially the same diameter as the plate member. In one of the alternate embodiments, however, the platform member has a smaller diameter and a static platform member is added to provide the user with an area that is rigidly mounted to the contact plate member.

  • Patent number: 4554864
Abstract: A portable food cooker for water smoker or direct heat cooking of food products comprising a support pedestal mounted on wheels and containing a heating unit, an open-ended wall section removably supported with a lower open end on the pedestal in communication with the heating unit and extending upwardly therefrom, a removable cover for closing the upper end of the wall section and defining with the pedestal and wall section a confined cooking compartment, one or more food support grills mounted at selected elevations in the compartment, and a pan located in the compartment below the grills and above the heating unit to contain water for water smoker cooking or, alternatively, fuel for direct heat cooking. The pan catches and contains material falling from food on the grill during the cooking operation, and an annular reservoir in the bottom of the wall section collects materials falling into the lower portion of the cooking compartment.

  • Patent number: 4475368
Abstract: Method and apparatus for restraightening depending bent metal end skirts of cylindrical containers, such as beer kegs, wherein the containers moving in a path of travel for processing are automatically interrogated by sensing heads which engage the rims of the normally circular end skirts of the containers to detect the presence or absence of a bent portion thereof. Containers having detected bent skirt portions are directed from the main processing path to a skirt straightening station where the ends of the container are supported in retaining rings of upper and lower straightening heads while arcuately spaced pry levers, or paws, located centrally in each retaining ring move radially outward from a central nested position to engage inwardly bent skirt portions of the container to lift and push the same outwardly into a circular configuration. The container is rotated in the rings between engagements by the paws to bring all portions of the skirts into position for straightening.
