  • Patent number: 10679512
Abstract: A system and method for presenting an online study guide and testing program is presented herein. In particular, the system and method includes a plurality of test questions stored within a database or question bank and a plurality of testing materials corresponding to subject areas, topics, and specific categories. Each of the test questions are coded or otherwise include a study code associated therewith, the study code representing a particular subject area, category or sub-category. Similarly, the study materials are also coded to represent a subject area, category, or sub-category. Accordingly, once a student has completed a test or assignment, the system and method will automatically detect the student's weak areas via wrong answered questions and provide the study code. The student can then obtain study materials relating to that study code in order to advance his or her knowledge in those weak areas.

  • Patent number: 9536522
Abstract: Systems and techniques are provided for training a natural language processing model with information retrieval model annotations. A natural language processing model may be trained, through machine learning, using training examples that include part-of-speech tagging and annotations added by an information retrieval model. The natural language processing model may generate part-of-speech, parse-tree, beginning, inside, and outside label, mention chunking, and named-entity recognition predictions with confidence scores for text in the training examples. The information retrieval model annotations and part-of-speech tagging in the training example may be used to determine the accuracy of the predictions, and the natural language processing model may be adjusted. After training, the natural language processing model may be used to make predictions for novel input, such as search queries and potential search results.

  • Patent number: 8909627
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs are encoded on a computer storage medium, for fake skip evaluation of synonyms. In one aspect, a method includes determining, using query log data, that a particular search result selected by a user includes a query term included in an initial search query and a particular synonym that was generated for the query term using a particular synonym rule. The particular search result is selected by the user from among search results that were generated using an initial search query and one or more revised search queries that include the particular synonym. The method further includes determining, using the query log data, that a first search result is ranked above the particular search result, and includes the particular synonym for the query term. In response to these determinations, a fake skip count is incremented for the synonym rule that corresponds to the particular synonym.

  • Patent number: 8762363
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for adding synonym rules based on historic data. According to one implementation, a method includes receiving an indication that a synonym rule that was previously added to a collection of synonym rules is no longer being added to the collection, and receiving historic usage data relating to the synonym rule. The method also includes determining, using the historic usage data relating to the synonym rule, whether to add the synonym rule to the collection, and, in response to determining to add the synonym rule, adding the synonym rule to the collection.

  • Patent number: 6731999
Abstract: A methodology that provides for control of lot release control in a production environment. The method provides a start-order release system to achieve output maximization and cycle time minimization. This is accomplished using a lot release method that allows for multiple products that have different due dates and different process flows. Linear programming techniques are used to provide optimum start and customer delivery dates and maintain high resource utilization.

  • Patent number: 5996312
Abstract: A tension adjusting device for a packing machine using plastic film includes a shaft with a plastic film roll mounted thereto which is pressed by a press member. An axle extends centrally from the press member and is connected to a plate which extends radially and outwardly from a first rotatable rod. The shaft has an end member with which a belt is engaged which has a first end fixedly connected to a first fixed position. A first gear is fixedly connected to the first rotatable rod and a second rotatable rod is located in parallel with the first rotatable rod with a second gear connected to the second rotatable rod and engaged with the first gear. A third gear is connected to the second rotatable rod and has a chain engaged therewith which has one end thereof fixedly connected to a second fixed position and the other end thereof connected to a second end of the belt via a spring so that when the third gear is rotated, the belt is loosened or tightened.

  • Patent number: 5987860
Abstract: Two spaced guiding plates for a wrapping device each have a first inclined face formed thereon and each of which faces the other, therefore, a V-shaped space is defined therebetween. An adjusting plate is securely mounted on a side of the wrapping device and has a second inclined face formed thereon. The first inclined face and the second inclined face are in line with each other, such that edges of a sheet of material for wrapping a article are able to be guided by the first inclined face and the second inclined face. With the help of the guiding plates and the adjusting plate, the present invention is able to precisely guide edges of the sheet of material and to efficiently wrap the article.
