Patent number: 4597677Abstract: A leaf-type foil thrust bearing, such as may be employed in a high-speed, light-load application, particularly, as a thrust bearing for a turbo charger, having a significantly reduced manufacturing cost. A plurality of recesses are formed in a thrust surface of a seat member disposed opposite the bearing surface of a rotating bearing member. The recesses gradually become shallower from their forward edges to the rearward edges in the direction of rotation of the rotating members. Corrugated foils are disposed in each of the recesses, with the corrugation height of each of the foils being constant. Top foils cover the respective corrugated foils, and each of the top foils has a forward edge attached to the thrust surface adjacent the forward edges of each of the recesses.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 1985Date of Patent: July 1, 1986Assignees: Taiho Kogyo Co., Toyota Motor Corp.Inventors: Yoshiyuki Hagiwara, Teru Morishita

Patent number: 4257235Abstract: Disclosed is a gas turbine engine provided with an annular pre-mixing chamber and an annular combustion chamber adapted for burning a combustible mixture from the pre-mixing chamber. A plurality of circumferentially arranged injection nozzle sets are located between the pre-mixing chamber and the combustion chamber so that the combustible mixture from the pre-mixing chamber is ejected into the combustion chamber, to cause the mixture to be burnt therein. Each injection nozzle set is comprised of at least two nozzles which are inclined with respect to each other in such a manner that a violent contact of the flows of combustible mixture passed through the nozzles occurs at a location in the combustion chamber causing a turbulence of flow to be generated therein. Thus, rapid and stable combustion can be effected.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 1978Date of Patent: March 24, 1981Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Teru Morishita, Manabu Kazaoka
