  • Patent number: 10093255
Abstract: A vehicle bumper includes: a bumper beam, a bumper face, covering a vehicle body front surface of the bumper beam, and a buffer component, provided between the bumper beam and the bumper face. The buffer component includes a platelike component configured to be folded upon collision load. The buffer component includes a folded part, and two surface parts that are connected through the folded part and are opposite to each other with a gap therebetween in a front-rear direction of the vehicle. A pressure pipe configured to be deformed by being clamped between the two surface parts so as to detect impact is provided in the gap. A lower space part that avoids interference between the bumper beam and a setting part for the pressure pipe in the buffer component is provided below the bumper beam.

  • Patent number: 8200395
Abstract: The vehicle collision decision apparatus has first acceleration detectors and a second acceleration detector for detecting an acceleration of the vehicle in a longitudinal direction, and third acceleration detectors for detecting an acceleration of the vehicle in a transverse direction thereof. When the vehicle is involved in an offset collision, the front airbags of the vehicle are activated based on accelerations detected by the first acceleration detectors and the second acceleration detector. Thereafter, the curtain airbags of the vehicle are reliably activated.

  • Patent number: 7234764
Abstract: In a sensor mounting structure, a sensor is mounted in an outer portion of the floor panel in a width of the vehicle, and a step garnish, extending in a length of the vehicle, is attached above the outer portion so as to cover the sensor. The step garnish may have a rib extending in the length of the vehicle; and the sensor may be positioned inside the rib in the width of the vehicle. Preferably, the step garnish has a plurality of ribs extending in the length of the vehicle; each rib has clip portions for attaching the step garnish to the floor panel; and the sensor is positioned between two of the ribs. Typically, the rib protrudes downward from a lower face of the step garnish. The floor panel may have a concave portion; and the sensor may be attached to a bottom of the concave portion.

  • Patent number: 6896086
Abstract: Values of vehicle speed signals sequentially output by a vehicle speed detection section are stored in a memory. Wheel slip detection section detects a slip of a vehicle wheel on the basis of the values of the vehicle speed signals stored in the memory and thereby outputs a wheel slip detection signal. Hood activation control section for controlling operation of a hood-lifting actuator activates the actuator even when the value of a current vehicle speed signal is smaller than a predetermined apparatus-activating vehicle speed value, on condition that the wheel slip signal has been received from the wheel slip detection section and that a collision detection signal has been received from a collision detection section.
