  • Patent number: 8029374
Abstract: A fixed constant velocity universal joint is made compact, has little decrease in load capacity even when the fixed constant velocity universal joint is made compact and is at an operating angle, and has improved high angle strength and durability through lessening instances in which a ball runs over a track at a high angle. In the fixed constant velocity universal joint, a cage includes four pockets, the pockets including a pair of long pockets of which a circumferential direction spacing is wide and a pair of short pockets of which the circumferential direction spacing is narrow. The pair of long pockets are shifted by 180 degrees along a circumferential direction and the pair of short pockets are shifted by 180 degrees along the circumferential direction. As a result, the long pockets and the short pockets are alternately disposed along the circumferential direction. A long pocket houses two balls. A short pocket houses one ball.

  • Publication number: 20110212789
Abstract: Wedge angles are formed between mutually facing central track-groove portions (11b, 12b, 21b, 22b) of an outer joint member (1) and an inner joint member (2). Track grooves (11, 12) provided to the outer joint member (1) and track grooves (21, 22) provided to the inner joint member (2) include a first pair of track grooves (11, 21) respectively including the central track-groove portions (11b, 21b) forming therebetween the wedge angle (?) opening to an opening side of the outer joint member (1) under a state in which an operating angle is 0°, and a second pair of track grooves (12, 22) respectively including the central track-groove portions (12b, 22b) oppositely forming therebetween the wedge angle (?) opening to an inner-end side of the outer joint member (1) under the state in which the operating angle is 0° .

  • Patent number: 7951009
Abstract: A fixed constant velocity universal joint is made compact, has little decrease in load capacity even at an operating angle, and can improve high angle strength and durability through lessening instances in which a ball runs over a track at a high angle. A cage includes four pockets, a pair of long pockets of which a circumferential direction spacing is wide and a pair of short pockets of which the circumferential direction spacing is narrow. The long pockets are shifted by 180 degrees along a circumferential direction and the short pockets are shifted by 180 degrees along the circumferential direction. The long pockets and the short pockets are alternately disposed along the circumferential direction. A long pocket houses two balls. A short pocket houses one ball. An offset amount in the cage is made large to be almost the same as an offset amount of track grooves. Track grooves on a joint inner side are deepened and cage thickness on an opening side is increased.

  • Publication number: 20110034255
Abstract: Provided is a fixed type constant velocity universal joint capable of securing a ball groove depth larger in comparison with that of conventional products and enhancing performance without an increase in a “force of pushing out balls in an axial direction”, the force having an influence on joint efficiency. A ratio (F/PCR) of an offset amount F to a length (PCR) of a segment connecting the center of each of the guide grooves (22, 25) and a center of each of balls (27) to each other ranges from 0.045 to 0.065. A ratio (?t/?) ranges from 0.045 to 0.

  • Publication number: 20100173715
Abstract: Provided is a fixed type constant velocity universal joint which is capable of reducing the size and weight while keeping the strength of a cage, and is also capable of improving the high angle strength and the durability. In the fixed type constant velocity universal joint, a center curvature of an outer spherical surface (28a) of a cage (28) is offset to a joint opening side with respect to a joint center, and a center curvature of an inner spherical surface (28b) of the cage (28) is offset to a joint back side with respect to the joint center, at regular distances in opposite sides to each other in the axial direction, respectively.

  • Publication number: 20100099504
Abstract: The present invention provides a fixed-type constant velocity universal joint that can sufficiently interpose a lubricant between a torque transmitting ball and a guide groove, and reduce frictional force. The fixed-type constant velocity universal joint of the present invention includes an outer joint member 1 that is filled with a lubricant and on which a guide groove 1b that extends in an axial direction is formed on a spherical inner circumferential surface 1a, an inner joint member 2 provided on an inner diameter side of the outer joint member 1 and on which a guide groove 2b that extends in the axial direction is formed on a spherical outer circumferential surface 2a, a torque transmitting ball 3 interposed between opposing guide grooves 1b and 2b of the outer joint member 1 and the inner joint member 2 such as to roll freely, and a cage 4 that holds each ball 3. Numerous miniscule recesses are randomly formed on a surface of the ball 3.

  • Publication number: 20100062865
Abstract: Provided is a fixed type constant velocity universal joint capable of, without involving decreases in load capacity of an inner joint member (inner member) and in spherical area, increasing rigidity of a cage and stabilizing durability. Pockets (29) of a cage (28) include four pockets including a pair of long pockets (30) with large circumferential intervals and a pair of short pockets (31) with small circumferential intervals. The pair of long pockets (30) can be shifted by 180 degrees along a circumferential direction, and the pair of short pockets (31) can be shifted by 180 degrees along the circumferential direction. The long pockets (30) and the short pockets (31) are arranged alternately to each other along the circumferential direction. Two balls (27) are accommodated in each of the long pockets (30), while one ball is accommodated in each of the short pockets (31). A cutout portion (45) is provided to an inner end portion of at least one of the track grooves (25) of the inner member.
