    Abstract: A steering assistance device includes: a steering angle sensor for detecting a steering angle of a vehicle; a motor for performing steering assistance of the vehicle by applying torque to a steering shaft; and a control unit for increasing increases the amount of steering assistance by the motor in case where the detected steering angle is included in an angular range corresponding to a steering play segment in which steering will not alter the direction of wheels of the vehicle as compared with a case where the detected steering angle is not included in an angular range.
