  • Patent number: 10255865
Abstract: The present invention provides a data processing device connected with an intermission driving. The data processing device achieves a satisfactory power saving while ensuring a high level of display quality of the display device. Upon detection of non-data update in a frame buffer, the host calculates a next refreshing timing based on driving information obtained from a liquid crystal display device (LCD), sets a timer for a timeout after a length of time representing the calculated result, and then the host and the LCD shift to Intermission State 1. Thereafter, when the timer times out to bring the host back to Normal State and a data update at the frame buffer is detected, data for refreshing an display image in the LCD is transferred from the host to the LCD. If the amount of time representing the calculated result is longer than a predetermined baseline, a shift is made to Intermission State 2 which provides greater power saving than Intermission State 1.

  • Publication number: 20180293949
Abstract: The present invention provides a data processing device connected with a display device performing intermission driving, in which power consumption of the display device is sufficiently reduced while securing high quality display by the display device. When a host shifts to Intermission State 2 together with an LCD without data updating in an image buffer in the host, the image buffer is extended (extended from 2 frames (A, B) to 4 frames (A-D)). Thereafter, when new display image data is supplied to the image buffer due to a user operation, a return instruction is transmitted from the host to the LCD. When stopped circuits in the LCD become operable, a return completion notification is sent from the LCD to the host. The host prevents frame missing by writing the new display image data into the image buffer in the extension state during the period of this returning, and transfers the new display image data to the LCD after receiving the return completion notification.

  • Patent number: 9940864
Abstract: There is provided a display device that is capable of suppressing occurrence of brightness drop which is caused by refresh of a display image during pause driving. In a normal driving mode, input image data (SsD0) according to a continuous tone method is supplied to a source driver (310) through a data selector (230) as an image signal (SsD) for driver. On the other hand, in a low-frequency driving mode in which pause driving is performed, the input image data (SsD0) is converted into dithered input image data (SsD1) by a dithering processing circuit (220), and is supplied to the source driver (310) through the data selector (230) as the image signal (SsD) for driver. A gradation of the dithered input image data (SsD1) is represented in a pseudo manner by an area coverage modulation method by using two values of a maximum value and a minimum value that can be taken as the gradation value of the input image data (SsD0).

  • Publication number: 20150145789
Abstract: The present invention aims at reducing noise caused by driving of the display panel while reducing a drop in the output rate of coordinates representing an object to be drawn. A coordinate output device receives a horizontal synchronization signal of a display panel from a display panel control unit and starts to detect touch location on the touch panel after a prescribed length of time has passed from the initial rise of the horizontal synchronization signal. The coordinate output device detects coordinates representing touch location in accordance with a signal outputted from the touch panel and performs a generation process to generate coordinates based on three consecutive detected coordinates. The coordinate output device outputs coordinate data having the detected coordinates and the generated coordinates to a control unit as coordinates from a period when three of the generated coordinates were detected.

  • Patent number: 8094003
Abstract: An on-vehicle display control unit includes a CPU to which vehicle data of various kinds are inputted and a graphic LSI arranged to generate display data to be outputted to a display. The graphic LSI is arranged to generate predetermined display data from image data generated by a meter ECU. However, if there is a problem in a state of the meter ECU or an input status of 3D moving picture data, the graphic LSI receives a fail safe control from the CPU (4), thereby to generate fail safe display data corresponding to the predetermined display data. This realizes an on-vehicle display system capable of stably displaying important vehicle information.
