  • Patent number: 7995328
Abstract: A capacitor for use in a hybrid vehicle and the like has a structure contrived to achieve reduction in size, increase in capacitance and decrease in resistance. An element has a pair of positive and negative electrodes, each comprising a collector made of a metallic foil having a carbon-containing electrode layer formed thereon, the electrodes rolled up with a separator interposed therebetween to form a pair of electrode terminations at opposite sides of the element. A dimension of one of the electrode terminations is set shorter than that of the other electrode termination. This structure achieves an increase in capacitance and decrease in resistance since it can increase an effective area of electrode surfaces under a restricted condition of keeping the same height of the element as it is placed inside a casing of given dimensions.

  • Patent number: 7843680
Abstract: A capacitor is provided to overcome the following problem: when plural capacitors are linked, a large coupling space is required because an anode and a cathode are brought out through the opposite ends, so that downsizing of the capacitor is difficult. The capacitor also allows easy electrical and mechanical coupling, reducing the required coupling space and unnecessary resistance. According to a structure of the capacitor, capacitor element (2) is enclosed in mechanical housing (3) having an opening sealed by terminal plate (4). Terminal slip (5), which includes rib (5b) to be coupled to one of the anode and the cathode of capacitor element (2) and terminal (5a), is insert-molded into terminal plate (4). The other of the anode and the cathode is coupled to an inner bottom face of metal housing (3). The one of the anode and the cathode is brought out through terminal (5a), and the other of the anode and the cathode is brought out through metal housing (3), thus a lower resistance is expected.

  • Patent number: 7817404
Abstract: A capacitor includes a metal case having an opening, a capacitor element accommodated in the metal case, an electrolyte accommodated in the metal case, and a sealing rubber sealing the opening of the metal case. The sealing rubber seals the opening of the metal case while the sealing rubber is compressed to have a stress applied thereto. The stress is not lower than 0.5 MPa and not higher than a predetermined maximum value. This capacitor prevents the electrolyte from leaking, thus having high reliability.
