  • Patent number: 7369259
Abstract: A printer stores printer position information in sequence and calculates its representative value as statistical printer position information by a statistical method. When a public key is requested by a print client, the printer generates a public key with a passphrase containing the statistical printer position information and transmits the public key to the print client. The print client generates print transmitting data by encrypting print data with this public key and transmits the print transmitting data to the printer. The printer generates a private key with a passphrase containing the statistical printer position information at this point in time and decrypts the print data.

  • Patent number: 7352865
Abstract: From a printer, a print client previously acquires printer position information on the printer. For example, when trying to transmit print data to the printer, the print client generates print transmitting data by adding printer position information on the printer to the print data and transmits the print transmitting data. The printer which has received this print transmitting data prints the print data only when the printer position information contained in the print transmitting data coincides with printer position information at this point in time. Consequently, the security of the print transmitting data transmitted from the print client to the printer via a network is ensured.

  • Publication number: 20060192989
Abstract: In printing onto a creased paper with a fold portion, a printing method of the invention performs a warning step (S203) that gives a warning about the need of smoothening out of the fold portion; and a printing step that starts printing after the warning is given in the warning step. The printing method further performs a reception step (S204, S206) that receives a confirmation instruction with respect to the warning given in the warning step, and the printing step does not start printing until the confirmation instruction is received in the reception step.

  • Publication number: 20050219578
Abstract: In a computer system of the invention, a menu button BT2 ‘Retouching Pre-Process’ clicked to activate a retouching pre-process and a menu button BT3 ‘Retouching Post-Process’ clicked to activate a retouching post-process are vertically downward aligned in a processing menu window MN corresponding to an order of operation procedure. The retouching pre-process includes 16-bit color support image processing options, for example, ‘brightness adjustment’ and ‘contrast adjustment’. The retouching post-process includes 8-bit color support image processing options, for example, ‘unsharp mask’ and ‘light irradiation’. When the operator clicks the menu button BT2 ‘Retouching Pre-process’ to execute any image processing option included in the retouching pre-process after execution of any image processing option included in the retouching post-process with regard to input image data, the computer system opens a message box to notify the operator of prohibition of a return to the retouching pre-process.

  • Publication number: 20050163549
Abstract: A printer generates a public key with a passphrase containing at least printer position information and a random number by a public key cryptography, and holds this random number. A print client previously acquires the public key from the printer. When transmitting print data to the printer, the print client encrypts the print data in advance with the acquired public key and transmits the encrypted print data as print transmitting data. The printer which has received the print transmitting data generates a private key with a passphrase containing at least printer position information and the held random number by the public key cryptography. The printer then decrypts the received print transmitting data with the private key. Consequently, the security of the print data transmitted from the print client to the printer via a network is ensured.

  • Publication number: 20050149755
Abstract: A printer generates a public key dependent on printer position information and transmits it to a print client. The print client encrypts a common key with this public key and transmits it to the printer, and encrypts print data with this common key and transmits it to the printer. The printer generates a private key dependent on printer position information to decrypt the encrypted common key, and decrypts the print data with the common key. Consequently, the printer capable of restricting the place where a print operation can be executed can be provided.

  • Patent number: 6901863
Abstract: A printer generates a public key with a passphrase containing at least printer position information, and holds the public key in a public key storage. When transmission of a public key is requested by a print client, the printer reads the public key from the public key storage and transmits the public key. The print clients transmits print transmitting data generated by encrypting print data with the previously acquired public key. The printer which has received the print transmitting data generates a private key with a passphrase containing at least printer position information. The printer decrypts the received print transmitting data with the private key.

  • Publication number: 20050018240
Abstract: A local area network is constructed to which are connected multiple clients CL1 to CL3 and printer PRT1. Printer PRT1 comprises two print job receiving ports, Port 9100 and Port 29100. When client CL1 sends print job JOB0 specifying the port of Port 29100, printer PRT1 correlates the print job received at the receiving port of Port 29100 with the IP address IP10 of the send source client CL1, and reserves the print job. When the print execution instructions are received from client CL1, the print job to be printed is specified as print job JOB0. When it is detected that the user has operated operating panel OP, printing of print job JOB0 is executed.

  • Publication number: 20040233472
Abstract: The network printer 30 stores print logs generated after a previous log transmission timing into the log storage area 32b, and then sends the print logs stored in the log storage area 32b to the management server 10 at a next log transmission timing. The network printer 30 stores a log relating to a print job into the log storage area 32b on completion of the whole print job when the next job transmission timing does not come before completion of the print job, while storing a log relating to a print job into the log storage area 32b on completion of every one page included in the print job when the next job transmission timing comes before completion of the print job. This arrangement desirably ensures transmission of logs relating to all jobs generated before each transmission timing to the management server.

  • Publication number: 20030224812
Abstract: A wireless communication management apparatus of the present invention functions to prevent the decline of the speed of the communication in wireless communication from lowering. A communication channel management apparatus 10 integrally manages a plurality of communication channels in a wireless network to which a diversity of devices are connected. In the communication channel management apparatus 10, a control unit 11 and a wireless relay devices 12 and 13 are united together. In case that a wireless communication device ST2 performs printing with a printer PRT, which is assigned a different communication channel from the current one, a control unit 11 acquires an IP address of the printer PRT through the wireless relay device 12 as information of a communicating destination for the wireless communication device ST2. The control unit 11 previously stores assigning conditions for assigning communication channels into a storage module 102.
