  • Publication number: 20050069277
Abstract: An antenna unit for sending out electromagnetic waves of a millimetric-wave band to outside and receiving the wave reflected from a target, and circuits for signal-processing the reflected wave are equipped as a vehicular millimetric-wave radar device. Antenna patterns are formed on a surface of a multilayer base plate formed of plural stacked layers of dielectric plates and an electroconductive layer interposed between each layer. Circuit wiring patterns and electronic components for signal processing of millimetric waves are disposed on the reverse side. Among all the above-mentioned electronic components, only a millimetric-wave signal oscillator, amplifier, and frequency converter are haused in a hermetically sealed section formed in a localized space on a face of the multilayer base plate. The other electronic components are arranged in a non-hermetically structured condition on a periphery of the hermetically sealed section.

  • Publication number: 20040001019
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling a vehicle is provided which can perform proper vehicle control and can issue a proper warning without causing abrupt behaviors of a vehicle. A plurality of range sensors are installed in an outer peripheral portion of a vehicle for sensing a target object including another vehicle. The controller includes a sensor signal failure/deterioration determining circuit to select, of signals outputted from the plurality of range sensors, a signal from at least one range sensor, which is neither failed nor deteriorated in sensor characteristics, for control using the selected signal with priority. A warning is issued to a driver when the target object, e.g., another vehicle, comes into a preset danger detection area. When the range sensors are installed in front and rear portions of the vehicle., control is carried out using a signal from at least one range sensor with priority, which is positioned on the same side as a steering wheel.

  • Publication number: 20030222809
Abstract: The invention provides a millimeter wave radar monitoring system, which can reduce the installation cost and can improve reliability with less probability of false alarms. A millimeter wave radar unit includes a millimeter wave radar having a transmitting antenna for radiating a radio wave and a receiving antenna for receiving a wave reflected by a target having received the radio wave radiated from the transmitting antenna, and includes a signal processing unit for the received radio wave. A target tracking and monitoring circuit section in a monitoring unit collates position information of the target detected by the millimeter wave radar unit with monitoring area layout information held in a monitoring area layout signal section, thereby tracking a motion of the target. The target is displayed on a display along with the monitoring area layout information. When it is determined that the target is a suspicious invader, a warning device issues an alarm.

  • Publication number: 20030167123
Abstract: A vehicle control apparatus is provided in which the use of a camera has enhanced the safety. A distance detecting sensor detects the distance between a vehicle, which is positioned ahead of a self-vehicle, and the self-vehicle. Also, the camera detects the vehicle positioned ahead of the self-vehicle. If the distance detecting sensor detects the ahead-positioned vehicle, a control unit utilizes the camera, thereby judging the state of rear lamps of the ahead-positioned vehicle. Then, if the control unit has detected a malfunction of the rear lamps of the ahead-positioned vehicle, the control unit, by a communications unit, communicates the malfunction to the driver of the ahead-positioned vehicle and/or to a public agency.
