  • Patent number: 4829848
Abstract: An energy absorbing apparatus for a steering wheel includes an energy absorbing portion or member disposed between a steering shaft and a steering wheel rim. The energy absorbing member is constituted by an annular relatively thin plate which surrounds the axis of the steering shaft. A portion of the energy absorbing member is bent in the plane orthogonal to the axis of the steering shaft, whereby the bent portion is deformed when a collision occurs, and the kinetic energy is thereby absorbed. The deformable bent portion is provided with a plurality of slits extending radially of the steering shaft and has embossed portions each defined between a pair of adjacent slits, whereby it is possible to control the absorption of any impact load and adjust the amount of kinetic energy which it is intended should be absorbed.

  • Patent number: 4783894
Abstract: A lock plates inserting machine and a method of automatically and mechanically inserting a plurality of lock plates into corresponding openings defined in the key cylinder. The lock plates inserting machine includes a key holder having a plurality of grooves corresponding to respective serrations of a key to be inserted. At least one key serrations detecting member having a key serrations detecting convex portion is inserted into one of the grooves of the key holder. At least one slide member is slidable upon pivotal movement of the key serrations detecting member and upon concave portions equal in number to the different sizes of the key serrations. A plurality of first push members corresponding to respective concave portions of the slide member are positioned so that a proper one of the first push members is inserted into its corresponding concave portion of the slide member in accordance with the slide members's position.

  • Patent number: 4324391
Abstract: A pre-heating assembly to be used for pre-heating ingots being transported to a melting furnace, which includes an inner cylinder constituting a main passage for exhaust gas discharged from a flue of the melting furnace, an outer cylinder which is positioned around the inner cylinder to leave a subsidiary passage for the exhaust gas between the two cylinders, an ingot supplying passage spirally provided along the outermost circumference of the inner cylinder, in which the ingots, each having a spherical configuration like a ball, roll down the passage in succession so that each ingot is pre-heated prior to its introduction into the melting furnace, and a connector support member, on which both cylinders are mounted and the bottom portion of the connector support member is coupled to the outlet of the flue.
