    Abstract: A compound resin composition in which an intercalated compound, in which an onium salt of an aminoalcohol derivative is inserted into the layers of a swellable stratified compound and the interlayer distance is 10˜25 Å as measured by x-ray diffraction, is finely dispersed in a heat curable resin, wherein the proportion is the intercalated compound with respect to the compound resin composition is in the range of 0.5˜60% by weight. This compound resin composition has excellent bending elastic modulus and thermal resistance, and is therefore suitably employed in a number of fields such as the automotive components, home appliance parts, aircraft parts, and construction materials fields, among others.

    Abstract: A material which exhibits enhanced mechanical strength and heat resistance is provided, comprising: (a) 99.9 to 60% by weight of a modified polyolefin or a polyolefin containing such a modified polyolefin in an amount of at least 1% by weight, the modified polyolefin having a copolymer portion as a graft or a block in a polyolefin, the copolymer portion made of an unsaturated carboxylic acid or a derivative thereof and a monomer, which has a monomer reactivity ratio, the product of which, when multiplied by a monomer reactivity ratio of the unsaturated carboxylic acid or the derivative thereof, is 1 or less; and (b) 0.1 to 40% by weight of a lipophilic interstratified compound in which tetraalkylammonium cation is inserted in a swellable stratiform silicate; can be obtained simply by taking the steps of mixing and melt-kneading in the absence of a solvent, without swelling and cleaving a stratiform silicate compound using a swelling/dispersing medium or the like, such as an organic solvent.

    Abstract: A method of producing a resin composition containing an inorganic filler is disclosed, wherein organic cations having a steric hindrance structure are brought into contact with a layered mineral with an equivalent area per unit charge on the layer surface of 40-150 .ANG..sup.2 /charge, then brought into contact with a thermoplastic resin having a solubility parameter of at least 9.5 ?cal/cm.sup.3 !.sup.1/2, so as to disperse the layered mineral inside the resin at the molecular level. The resin compositions obtained by this production method have excellent rigidity, heat resistance and impact resistance, and are suitable for use in fields such as, for example, automobiles, household electronic parts, construction materials and industrial materials.

    Abstract: An optical low-pass filter in the form of a rectangular wave phase grating including at least two sets of parallel phase retardation laminae, the laminae in each set being at an angle to the laminae of the other set. The optical filter is disposed in an optical system provided with a color-encoding filter, such as a single tube color television camera, and the high frequency components of an image on the color-encoding filter are attenuated below a predetermined level. The degree of blur, which is larger than the value calculated from the grating period of the color-encoding filter, is effected by a first set of laminae and beats appearing in the image defocused on the color-encoding filter due to the laminae is attenuated by another set or the other set of laminae.
