    Abstract: Oil seal ring comprising a base body and a lip formed thereon. The base body is made of a relatively flexible iron based material such as a cast iron. The lip is made of a mixture of iron-based alloy and one or more carbides by melting and thereafter solidifying the mixture on the body. Composite carbides are produced in the alloy and added carbides are distributed in the metal and the composite carbides in the alloy.
