  • Patent number: 5939826
Abstract: A plasma display panel for plasma display system provides excellent optical characteristics, including a color purity, contrast, and luminance, of a plasma display system. Barrier ribs forming a cell has wavelength-selective reflective filters for reflecting only a light of wavelength needed for display and absorbing the other lights coated thereon. The wavelength-selective reflective filters have phosphors coated thereon. A color filter is inserted between a first front panel and second front glass panel for feeding out the light in a sandwich state.

  • Patent number: 5939828
Abstract: In order to reduce the address voltage in a gas discharge type display pane, the address electrodes in the display panel are formed on the barrier ribs. Further, a fluorescent layer is coated on the wall surface of the barrier ribs thereby suppressing erroneous light emission or degradation of the fluorescent layer during address discharge.

  • Patent number: 5900694
Abstract: A gas discharge display panel in which opaque bus electrodes are structured in a frame shape for making each display cell clear as viewed from outside of the front substrate, and the bus electrodes function as a black matrix of the display screen. Hence the integrity of the black display status is improved and the contrast is increased.

  • Patent number: 5883462
Abstract: A partition member for a gas discharge display panel having a front substrate with at least one main discharge electrode spaced from a back substrate having at least one auxiliary discharge electrode so as to delimit a gap therebetween. The partition member is adapted to extend substantially parallel to and between the front and back substrates for forming a main discharge space on a front substrate side and an auxiliary discharge space on a back substrate side, the partition member being a metal material member. A gas discharge display panel incorporates the partition member and a system is provided for driving the gas discharge display panel. Also, a manufacturing method is provided for the partition member and gas discharge display panel.

  • Patent number: 5818168
Abstract: A gas discharge display panel which provides sufficient contrast and good accuracy and is high in yield. When a voltage is applied to auxiliary discharge electrodes, auxiliary discharge occurs in an auxiliary discharge space and excited charged particles communicate with a main discharge space through a priming path made in a discharge space separation bulkhead. In this state, when an alternating voltage is applied between bus electrodes on a front substrate, main discharge occurs in the main discharge space, causing Xe atoms in the sealed gas to generate ultraviolet rays, causing a phosphor to emit light. However, since the auxiliary discharge is shielded by a bulkhead and a barrier rib, the phosphor does not emit light when only auxiliary discharge occurs.
