  • Patent number: 6367727
Abstract: A roll photo film includes a spool which has a cylindrical core. A light-shielding sheet has a front end portion and a rear end portion. The front end portion is secured to the core. A first end of a photo filmstrip is secured to one securing position on the light-shielding sheet. The photo filmstrip is wound about the core in a roll form with the light-shielding sheet. A roll photo film producing apparatus includes a punch/die set, which has a trimming punch and a trimming die, and trims the rear end portion with a reduced width. A hole-forming punch and a hole-forming die are incorporated in the punch/die set, and cut a retaining hole through the rear end portion in a simultaneous manner with trimming of the rear end portion.

  • Patent number: 6162594
Abstract: A photographic roll film such as Brownie film is placed on a backing paper or a leader paper. The roll film is joined at its one or both ends to the backing paper or leader paper with a jointing tape, which has on its surface a bar code composed of light absorbing bars and light reflecting spaces. The light absorbing bars show a reflectance of less than 30% and a glossiness of less than 20%, and the light reflecting spaces show a reflectance of more than 50% and a glossiness of less than 35%. Further, the total of the glossiness of light absorbing bars and the glossiness of light reflecting spaces is less than 50%. The reflectance and glossiness both are determined utilizing a light in a wavelength region other than a light sensitive wavelength region of the roll film.

  • Patent number: 6100017
Abstract: A 120-type roll photo film has a photo filmstrip. Trailer and leader portions of backing paper project from respective ends of the photo filmstrip. The photo filmstrip is wound about a spool with the trailer and leader portions. A seal tape is previously secured to the trailer portion. The photo filmstrip, after being exposed, is wound with the trailer and leader portions in a form of a roll with the leader portion internally positioned. Then the seal tape is fitted on the roll for preventing the trailer portion from being unwound. In the seal tape, a support material has first and second ends and an intermediate portion. The support material is folded into three in a Z-shape along first and second fold lines located between the intermediate portion and each of the first and second ends. A first adhesive layer attaches the first end to the trailer portion. An auxiliary adhesive layer attaches the intermediate portion to the first end in a peelable manner.

  • Patent number: 6050489
Abstract: A bar code is provided on a Brownie film roll by printing black bar elements on a high-reflective obverse surface of an adhesive tape that secures a leading end of a filmstrip to a light-shielding paper. Spacings between the black bar elements form white bar elements. A reflective photo sensor scans the bar code while the light-shielding paper and the filmstrip are advanced in a camera. Signal level of the photo sensor is sampled, and at least one maximum value and one minimum value of the signal level are held. The sampled signal level is compared to threshold values to detect a leading edge of the adhesive tape, a leading edge of a first black bar element and borders between the bar elements. The threshold values for detecting the leading edge of the first black bar element and for detecting borders between the bar elements are seriatim revised according to the held maximum and minimum values.

  • Patent number: 6021973
Abstract: A take-up spool to be set in a photo film take-up chamber is used with a roll photo film of the 120 type to be loaded in a photo film supply chamber. The take-up spool has a slit, formed in a spool core to extend in an axial direction, is open in first and second openings, and has first and second walls. A trapezoidal erect plate is disposed erectly on the first wall, oriented crosswise to the axial direction. The erect plate has first and second inclined edges, confronted respectively with the first and second openings, and inclined with reference to the first wall. A pair of lateral claws are disposed on respective lateral faces of the erect plate to extend in the axial direction. Two press ridges project from the second wall. In combination, the roll photo film includes a spool, a photo filmstrip, a trailer, a leader, and a retainer hole formed in the leader. The retainer hole receives insertion of the erect plate, and is retained by the lateral claws.

  • Patent number: 5934592
Abstract: In a 120- or 220-size roll film, a leader of a light-shielding paper has at least a hole to be engaged with a claw formed in a slit of a spool core. A pair of ribs are formed on an opposite wall of the slit from the claw. The ribs have a height larger than a thickness of the light-shielding paper plus a distance from a peak of the claw to the opposite wall, so that the ribs urge the leader toward the claw, and let the hole be caught on the claw. The claw has side projections which protrude in an axial direction of the spool core in proximity to the peak of the claw. Guide surfaces of the claw which face entrances of the slit are inclined toward each other, such that the hole caught on the claw is guided to be engaged with the side projections upon the leader being relatively moved away from the slit when the spool is rotated.

  • Patent number: 4637703
Abstract: In an instant film pack of the type comprising a parallelepipedal housing having a flat top wall in which an exposure aperture is defined by a rectangular frame, and a pressure plate for urging instant film units obtained in the film pack against the frame for exposure. Structure is provided to prevent the surface of the film unit from receiving scratch marks when the film unit is withdrawn from the film pack. The scratch mark preventing structure comprises a plurality of prismatic protuberances arranged in a line transverse to the direction of film movement on the underside of the rear edge of the exposure aperture, the protuberances having ridge lines parallel to the direction of film movement.

  • Patent number: 4546061
Abstract: A film unit for an instant camera includes a photosensitive sheet connected with a leader sheet. A carrier sheet is partly superposed on the leader sheet and bonded thereto at one end, and a drawer member is bonded to the leader sheet, at one end, near the bonding portion between the carrier sheet and the leader sheet. The other end of the drawer member is projected outside the camera body when the film unit is loaded in the camera. An image receiving sheet to which an image formed on the photosensitive sheet is transferred, is connected to the other end of the carrier sheet. When the projecting end of the drawer member is pulled after exposure, the leading end of the leader sheet is pulled to be inserted between a pair of pressure rolls and to be projected outside the camera body by way of the bonding portion between the drawer member and the leader sheet, with the drawer member being peeled off the leader sheet thereafter.
