Abstract: A scanner is equipped with an input image buffering section 13 for storing read-out image data; a storage managing section 11 for managing the image data in the form of processing blocks that are arranged in the vertical direction and the horizontal direction; a block data reading section 14 for reading, as processing subject blocks, processing blocks each of which overlaps with a divisional cuffing-out block of a document image which is inclined with respect to the image data by a certain angle, from the input image buffering section 13 for each band of processing blocks arranged in the auxiliary scanning direction; and a block rotating section 15 for rotating the processing subject blocks while maintaining positional relationships between them, and storing rotated processing subject blocks in a rotated image buffering section which has a capacity corresponding to three processing blocks for each band of processing blocks arranged in the auxiliary scanning direction.

Abstract: A scanner is provided with encoding means for performing variable-length compression of scanned image data, memory means which is partitioned into an image memory area where the image data compressed to be variable-length is stored, and an administration table area where a BAT for administrating the image memory area is stored, in which the image memory area is partitioned into PMs made to correspond to each of bands 0 to 3 into which a document plane is divided at every predetermined width in a horizontal direction, and one or more EPMs allocatable to one of the bands 0 to 3, and image data processing means for storing compressed image data belonging to the bands 0 to 3, in the respective PMs 0 to 3, for storing the image data in sequence in the EPMs needed when compressed image data to be stored is greater than the PMs, and for setting identification information denoting the used EPMs as jump information of an administration table.

Abstract: A color distribution analysis apparatus analyzes color distribution of image data by counting frequencies of appearance of color types shown in readout image data. The color distribution analysis apparatus includes: a primary counter increment section that increments a primary counter with a predetermined bit width provided for each color type; a counter generation section that, when a carry is generated by allowing the primary counter increment section to increment the primary counter corresponding to the color type of the image data, generates an extended counter with a predetermined bit width corresponding to the primary counter; and an extended counter increment section that increments the extended counter in accordance with generation of the carry.
