Patent number: 4628376Abstract: A magnetic disc unit which clamps and releases a magnetic disc by a mechanism driven by a motor. The inserted magnetic disc is automatically ejected from the magnetic disc unit when a magnetic disc eject switch is depressed. A magnetic disc eject signal is so controlled by a head load signal that while the head load signal is applied, the output of the magnetic disc eject signal is inhibited. A cam mechanism for controlling a lever which operates a magnetic disc clamping mechanism can be manually operated from the exterior of the magnetic disc unit. While the head load signal is applied, the inserted magnetic disc is not ejected from the magnetic disc unit, even if the magnetic disc eject switch is erroneously depressed. Accordingly, the data in a magnetic disc is not destroyed. Regardless of a malfunction or failure of the magnetic disc unit or a host system, the inserted magnetic disc can be manually released and ejected from the magnetic disc unit.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 1984Date of Patent: December 9, 1986Assignee: Canon Denshi Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Masahiro Kato, Tetsu Ogawa
