  • Patent number: 6341103
Abstract: A slide-feed drive part (27) uses a stepping motor as a slide-feed motor for changing the position of a optical pick-up (3) with respect to the rotation surface of an optical disk (1), and has a micro-controller (31) provided therein and a slide-feed motor controller (32) both for correcting drive current waveforms to drive the stepping motor. Therefore, by correcting the motor driving waveforms, the optical pick-up (3) can be linearly moved with respect to the rotation of the slide-feed motor (14). It is thereby possible to do away with a position sensor and make a fine positional control of the optical pick-up (3) with no variation. As a result of this, it is possible to provide an optical disk driving apparatus, an optical disk driving method, and an optical disk apparatus, which enhances the linearity of the rotation of the motor with a simple construction.

  • Publication number: 20010040866
Abstract: A disc cartridge housing a disc-shaped recording medium in a main cartridge body portion is disclosed. The disc cartridge includes a main cartridge body portion having a circular medium housing section for rotationally housing a disc-shaped recording medium, a recording and/or reproducing opening for exposing at least a portion of the disc-shaped recording medium to outside and a driving opening for allowing intrusion of a rotating driving unit adapted for rotationally driving the disc-shaped recording medium. The disc cartridge also includes a shutter mechanism having a shutter member rotated along the major surface of the main cartridge body unit in a region provided with the medium housing section to open/close the recording and/or reproducing opening and a plurality of cartridge supporting portions at plural corner regions of larger area outside a region provided with the medium housing section of the main cartridge body unit.

  • Patent number: 6175544
Abstract: A recording/reproducing apparatus for a disc employing an optical disc for recording information signals as a recording medium. The apparatus includes a disc tray mounted for movement between a position protruded from a casing via an aperture formed in the casing and a position housed within the casing. The disc tray has a recess in which to set the disc. The apparatus includes a movement mechanism for moving the disc tray between the protruded position and the housed position. The movement mechanism has a control gear for moving the disc tray across the inner and the outer sides of the casing. The apparatus also includes an optical pickup for illuminating a light beam on a disc transported by the disc tray and an adjustment mechanism for adjusting the tilt relative to the disc of the optical axis of the light beam illuminated by the optical pickup on the disc. The adjustment mechanism is driven by the control gear.

  • Patent number: 5629817
Abstract: A cassette loading apparatus wherein a cassette holder has a long operating stroke and can be positioned readily and accurately at a cassette playing position. The cassette holder is mounted for movement under the guidance of L-shaped guides of a pair of side plates such that it first moves horizontally along horizontal guide portions and then moves vertically downwardly along vertical guide portions of the L-shaped guides to carry a cassette received thereon to a playing position. A pair of sliders each having an inclined guide are disposed for movement under the guidance of the horizontal guide portions of the L-shaped guides.

  • Patent number: 5506830
Abstract: A disk player has a guide member for guiding an optical pickup carrier along both sides of a double-sided disk. In order to prevent interference between the pickup carrier and the periphery of the disk during turning movement of the pickup carrier around the periphery of the disk from one of the upper and lower sides of the disk to the other side, the guide member is shaped like a horseshoe. The guide member includes upper and lower straight sections for guiding the pickup carrier, respectively, along the upper and lower sides of the disc, and an arched section extending vertically around the periphery of the disk and connecting the outer ends of the upper and lower straight sections. The upper and lower straight sections are not parallel to each other, but rather they are inclined in such a fanlike manner that the outer ends are wider apart.

  • Patent number: 5493459
Abstract: A cassette loading apparatus for transporting a selected tape cassette from an insertion opening to a playing position. The tape cassette is selected from among different size cassettes including a large size and a small size. A holder receives the tape cassette. A pair of cassette guides disposed on an inner face of the holder receives the tape cassette between the guides if the tape cassette is of the small size and, when the tape cassette is of the large size, each of the cassette guides is covered by a corresponding one of a pair of grooved portions provided on the bottom of the tape cassette. A resilient arm is provided integrally on an upper face portion of one of the cassette guides and is arranged so as to be pressed and resiliently deformed by the tape cassette received in the holder if such tape cassette is of the large size and not pressed and deformed if such tape cassette is of the small size.
