  • Patent number: 6631614
Abstract: A gas turbine combustor, in which plural pre-mixers that inject fuel into swirling air passages are arranged to surround a pilot burner, and a pilot flame, guided by a pilot cone in the shape of a flaring pipe and provided at the rear end of the pilot burner, is mixed with a pre-mixture blown out from the pre-mixers to obtain a combustion gas, comprising flame-stabilizing means. The flame-stabilizing means lower the disturbance in a region where the pre-mixture and the pilot flame are mixed or stabilize the pilot flame, so that the flame generated by igniting the pre-mixture with the pilot flame is stabilized. By stabilizing the flame, combustion with a leaner air-fuel ratio is possible, and thereby the amount of NOx can be decreased.

  • Patent number: 6250065
Abstract: Liquid fuel purge device uses water, not compressed air as in the prior art, thereby prevented are rapid load change of gas turbine due to sudden discharge of liquid fuel and coking of remaining liquid fuel. Upon supply of liquid fuel to fuel nozzle (05) being stopped, water purge system (15) having stop valve (16) supplies water into fuel system including liquid fuel system (08) and fuel nozzle (05) and liquid fuel remaining therein is purged by water into combustion chamber (013) from the fuel nozzle (05).

  • Patent number: 6116018
Abstract: A gas turbine plant having a compressor, gas turbine, and combustor, comprising a cooling system adapted to cool the wall of the combustor by means of air compressed by the combustor when the load of the gas turbine and/or the combustion load of the combustor is low, and an additional cooling system adapted to cool the wall of the combustor by means of a cooling medium different from the air in addition to the cooling by means of the air when the load of the gas turbine is increased.

  • Patent number: 5983641
Abstract: In a tail pipe of gas turbine combustor, the portion just in front of the outlet 104 of tail pipe of gas turbine combustor has a shape such as to be inclined with respect to the axial direction so that the direction changes from the rearward direction to the direction toward the rear in the substantially axial direction, and at this portion, the position of center of curvature 103 in the axial direction on the rotor side lies on the upstream side from the position of center of curvature 102 on the casing side, a bent portion of tail pipe serves as a suction duct, and the occurrence of a negative pressure zone is prevented. Also, by using the tail pipe, a combustor inner tube or a burner provided on the upstream side of the tail pipe having a straight or substantially straight axis is disposed so that the axis of the combustion inner tube or the burner makes an angle with respect to the axis of the tail pipe in such a manner that combustion gas collides with the back side of the tail pipe.

  • Patent number: 5410884
Abstract: A gas turbine combustor suppresses the generation of NOx by mixing a fuel and air homogeneously. A pilot nozzle is provided at the center of the gas turbine combustor. A plurality of main nozzles surround the pilot nozzle. A diverging cone projects from the vicinity of the injection port of the pilot nozzle such that the flame from the main nozzles is sustained by the pilot nozzle and NOx is suppressed. The main nozzles can be provided upstream of the injection port of the pilot nozzle in which case an annular premixing nozzle having a throttled exit end is disposed downstream of the main nozzles. The main nozzle may also be in the form of a fuel nozzle having a plurality of tubes, a gaseous fuel being injected through one of the tubes, and liquid fuel being injected into the annular premixing nozzle through the other of the tubes so that the liquid fuel is atomized to mix the fuel and air homogeneously.

  • Patent number: 5145753
Abstract: A noble solid electrolyte fuel cell includes a generating layer (5), an interconnector layer (9), and a support layer (10) disposed between the generating and interconnector layers. The interconnector layer comprises a fuel electrode (6), an interconnector material (7) and an oxygen electrode (8). The support layer (10) forms a fuel passage and an oxidizer passage, and supporting rods (15, 102) for gas sealing are disposed at both ends of the support layer. A sealing film (110) is cemented to the contact surfaces of the supporting rods (15, 102) between the generating layer and the interconnector layer, and this sealing film becomes soft or half melted during the operation of the fuel cell. This construction provides improved cell performances due to better sealing of gases even under large temperature differences. The use of finer particles near the surface of the solid electrolyte only is also disclosed.
