    Abstract: A display system which uses one display unit as if it were a plurality of display units to separately display whole information and partial information of document is disclosed. A plurality of display windows are defined on one display screen and a layout or a reduced image of the whole information is displayed in one of the window and information or image representing the information of a partial area of the whole information is displayed in other window. When one of the whole information and the partial area information is changed, the other information is also changed correspondingly, or a mark indicating a relation between the whole information and the partial area information is displayed in one of the window.

    Abstract: In order to utilize memo data written by hand for purposes of retrieving a document, the original document image data is stored and, thereafter, a document image data with memo is separately input, the document image data with memo being comprised of the original document image onto which is additionally written memo data by hand. The position of the document image data with memo is then brought into alignment with the original document image data and is correlated to extract only that memo data which has been written by hand. Then the kind of memo is discriminated, the process is effected depending upon the kind of memo, and the memo data is stored in a secondary data file for retrieval. To retrieve the document, the memo data of a plurality of documents is read out from the secondary data file depending upon the kind of memo that is designated, and is displayed as a look-up table.

    Abstract: A novel tape cassette which has tape guides that prevent the tape from moving upwardly or downwardly in the cassette and which are constructed by providing interleafed guides which are formed by molding from opposite sides of the top and lower half of the cassette during construction. It has been discovered that the tape guides molded in plastic cassettes tend to incline or tilt away from the front edge of the cassette which result in the tape moving upward or downwardly as it engages such inclined tape guides. The present invention provides for forming a portion of the guides from the upper half of the cassette and other portions of the guides formed from the lower cassette half such that the combination of the upper and lower guides interleaf and result in the tape being maintained in the desired center relationship while traveling in either direction.

    Abstract: A tape cassette having two substantially coplanar reels with tape wound on at least one of the reels and extending along a defined path within the cassette housing to the other reel, the ends of the tape being attached to the respective reels. The path is at least partly defined by guide means comprising a guide member to control the location of one edge of the tape very accurately. The guide member has at least one surface portion with a conical configuration, and the tape makes contact with this conical portion around only a limited arc. The axis of the conical portion of the guide member is substantially parallel to the axis of the adjacent roller, and the included conical angle defined by the conical surface is very small. The guide member has a shoulder that extends substantially perpendicularly outwardly from the conical axis at the constricted end of the conical surface to serve as a guide surface for one edge of the tape.
