  • Patent number: 4217258
Abstract: A stabilizer composition is disclosed for increasing the resistance to yellowing and loss of clarity of a vinyl halidepolymer upon heating, which comprises a thio-1,3-dicarbonyl compound represented by the formula ##STR1## in which M represents hydrogen, an organotin group or a metal, R represents hydrogen, a hydrocarbon group or a group ##STR2## each of R, R", and R'" represents hydrogen or an organic group, X is oxygen or sulfur, and n representing the valence of M is an integer from 1 to 4, and at least one heat stabilizer which is an alkyltin compound or a metal salt of a non-nitrogenous monocarboxylic acid or of a hydrocarbon-substituted phenol.Stabilized vinyl halide polymer compositions, in which the above stabilizer composition is used to improve the resistance to yellowing and the clarity, are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4160762
Abstract: Stabilizer compositions are provided to enhance the resistance to deterioration on heating of a halogen-containing resin, comprising (A) a sulfide compound of four-valent tin having linked to a tin atom at least one sulfide group, and through carbon 1 or 2 alkoxycarbonylalkylene groups having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms in the alkoxy group and from 2 to 3 atoms in the alkylene group; and (B) a tin mercaptoalkylenecarboxylic acid ester having linked to a tin atom through sulfur 2 or 3 mercaptoalkylenecarboxylic acid alkyl ester groups having 1 or 2 carbon atoms in the mercaptoalkylene group and 4 to 18 carbon atoms in the alkyl ester group, and through carbon 1 or 2 alkoxycarbonylalkylene groups having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms in the alkoxy group and 2 or 3 carbon atoms in the alkylene group. The stabilizer composition contains at lesast 5% by weight of the sulfide compound (A).Halogen-containing resin compositions stabilized with the above stabilizer composition are also provided.

  • Patent number: 4105627
Abstract: Improved clarity and resistance to deterioration on heating of polyvinyl fluoride and vinyl chloride polymers is obtained by employing a stabilizer composition consisting essentially of (A) a heterocyclic nitrogen compound having as part of a 5 or 6 membered heterocyclic ring the group ##STR1## in which R is hydrogen, aryl, or alkyl having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, and X is oxygen or sulfur, and (B) one or more 1,2-epoxides, organic phosphites, or stannous tin, zinc, magnesium, aluminum, potassium, sodium, calcium, strontium, or barium salts of non-nitrogenous monocarboxylic acids having from 6 to 24 carbon atoms or hydrocarbon-substituted phenols having from about 10 to about 30 carbon atoms.
