  • Patent number: 7222610
Abstract: A lid member is mounted to the fuel tank to cover an opening of the fuel tank. A fuel pump is arranged in the fuel tank to pump fuel in the fuel tank. A module case supports the fuel pump. A pump module includes fuel component protruding from a lateral side of the module case in a projection, which is viewed from a side of the lid member. A supporting member is connected with the lid member and the module case to support the pump module in the fuel tank. The lid member supports the pump module via the supporting member. The module case includes a connecting portion that connects with the supporting member. The connecting portion protrudes from the module case to the lateral side of the module case. The connecting portion is arranged in an imaginary circle that passes through outer peripheries of the module case and the fuel component in the projection. The imaginary circle accommodates the module case and the fuel component in the projection.

  • Patent number: 7159574
Abstract: A fuel feed apparatus includes a sub-tank and a fuel pump that are received in the fuel tank. The sub-tank has an inner space that is partitioned into at least a first chamber and a second chamber. The fuel pump is arranged in the first chamber to discharge fuel received in the sub-tank to the outside of the fuel tank. The second chamber has an opening, through which the second chamber communicates with the outside of the sub-tank such that fuel accumulated in the second chamber is exhausted to the outside of the sub-tank through the opening. The fuel tank has a first tank space and a second tank space. The sub-tank is received in the first tank space. A first jet pump is disposed in the second chamber of the sub-tank. The first jet pump draws fuel accumulated in the second tank space into the first tank space.

  • Publication number: 20050172937
Abstract: A fuel supply device is composed of a bottom cover closing a bottom opening of a fuel tank and a fuel pump module mounted on the bottom cover. The fuel pump module includes a fuel pump for sucking fuel contained in the fuel tank, a pressure regulator for regulating fuel pressure by discharging part of the fuel sucked by the fuel pump and a fuel level detector for detecting a fuel level in the fuel tank. The fuel pump module is submerged in fuel contained in the fuel tank. The fuel level detector is positioned apart from the pressure regulator in both the horizontal and vertical directions, so that the fuel level detector accurately detects the fuel level without being disturbed by a fuel flow discharged from the pressure regulator.

  • Publication number: 20050155584
Abstract: A fuel feed apparatus includes a lid member, a sub-tank, first and second supporting members, a biasing means, a supporting portion, and a guide portion. The first and second supporting members are arranged in substantially radially end portions of the cylindrical portion to be substantially radially opposed to each other. The lid member is capable of axially moving relative to the sub-tank via the first and second supporting members. The biasing means is arranged on the outer periphery of the first supporting member, and is received in the guide portion to bias the lid member and the sub-tank to be apart from each other. The first supporting member defines a groove portion that circumferentially divides an inner wall thereof into at least two planes. The first supporting member is capable of axially reciprocating through the supporting portion.

  • Patent number: 6837222
Abstract: In a fuel supply apparatus for a vehicle, a sender gauge is attached to a stay separated from a flange and a bracket for supporting a fuel pump. By changing the shape of the stay, without changing the shape of other components, the mounting position of the sender gauge can be arbitrarily defined. The position of the sender gauge can be moved to a position where the interference of a float member with a fuel tank, sub-tank or suction filter may be prevented.

  • Patent number: 5993580
Abstract: A filter element has a wavy filter portion including a plurality of ridges of a filter material, which are juxtaposed to one another and closed at their sides, and a flange portion extending along a mounting plane around the filter portion for supporting the filter portion. The flange portion is made of the same filter material extending from the filter portion, by compressing the filter material more densely than the filter portion. The filter element is manufactured by a step of preparing an intermediate product of a wavy sheet, and a step of forming the filter portion by leaving the central portion of the wavy intermediate product as in the wavy sheet, and forming the flange portion around the filter portion for supporting the filter portion, by pressing the side portions of the ridges of the wavy intermediate product along the mounting plane.
