    Abstract: There is provided an operational amplifier for subtracting the voltage responsive to the totalized smear component appearing on an even (or odd) vertical signal line to which none of an accessed or scanned photo-diode is coupled, from the voltage responsive to the imaging signal as well as the totalized smear components appearing on an odd (or even) vertical signal line to which a photo-diode accessed or scanned by the vertical scanning light pulses is coupled. There is further provided circuits for detecting whether the amount of the imaging signal and the totalized smear components exceeds a predetermined value and inactivating the subtractor or ignoring its output when the detecting output represents an overabundance, thereby preventing the reaction because of overactive subtraction of the smear component.
