A multi-layer piezoelectric element includes a prismatic stacked body wherein piezoelectric layers and internal electrode layers are alternately laminated, wherein the stacked body includes a chamfered portion formed by grinding a ridge portion of a side peripheral surface thereof, and a linear grinding trace on the chamfered portion extends in a direction along the internal electrode layers.
