  • Patent number: 5040958
Abstract: A scroll compressor comprising a stationary scroll member having a stationary spiral wrap extending from a stationary end plate, an orbiting scroll member having an orbiting spiral wrap extending from an orbiting end plate with the wraps of the stationary scroll member and orbiting scroll member engaging with each other to form a fluid compressing chamber. A main shaft rotates on its own axis, with an eccentric drive shaft being provided having an axis spaced from the axis of the main shaft to orbit around the axis of main shaft and so that the eccentric drive shaft drives the orbiting scroll member to orbit around the axis of the stationary scroll member. The eccentric drive shaft is guided on the main shaft so that a distance between the axis of eccentric drive shaft and the axis of main shaft can be changed, and the main shaft drives the eccentric drive shaft to orbit around the axis of the main shaft.

  • Patent number: 5037279
Abstract: A scroll fluid machine in which a stationary scroll member and an orbiting scroll member each have an end plate and involute wrap on said end plate and mesh with each other. A winding-start portion of the wrap has such a section such that a base thereof is thick and the tip thereof is thin, with a curve of an inside line at each of the bases of the wraps is made as thick as possible while avoiding mutual interference between the wrap of fixed scroll member and the wrap of orbiting scroll member. A curve of an inside line at each of tips of the wraps has such a shape that it gradually thinned toward an inner periphery end thereof, and a section of each wraps in the wrap axial direction has such a shape that it is gradually reduced in thickness from the base toward the tip.

  • Patent number: 4904170
Abstract: A scroll-type fluid machine comprises a stationary scroll member, an orbiting scroll member, a rotation-prevention mechanism for the orbiting scroll member, and a casting accommodating therein both members and the mechanism. The involute angle of a terminal end of a wrap of the orbiting scroll member is selected to be less than that of the wrap of the stationary scroll member by an angle which ranges between 60.degree. and 120.degree., preferably, about 90.degree., thereby reducing a level of force applied to the rotation-prevention mechanism which prevents the orbiting scroll member from rotating about its own axis.

  • Patent number: 4802831
Abstract: A compressor has stationary and orbiting scroll members formed thereon with spiral wraps engaged with each other to define compression chambers which, when the orbiting scroll member is moved relative to the stationary scroll member, are radially inwardly moved while decreasing their volumes. Each scroll member is composed of a metallic base scroll member having a spiral wrap formed on one side and a coating layer of a resin compound formed on the said side of the scroll member, including the surfaces of the wrap. The coating layer is molded by placing the base scroll member in a mold cavity with a space left between the said side of the base scroll member and a mold part and by injecting the resin compound into the space.

  • Patent number: 4774816
Abstract: An air conditioner includes a scroll-type refrigerant compressor driven at a speed variable in accordance with the thermal load on the air conditioner. The compressor has stationary and orbiting scroll members assembled together to define compression chambers in which a refrigerant gas is compressed and finally discharged into a discharger chamber through a discharge port formed in the center of the end plate of the stationary scroll member. At least one bypass port and an associated check valve are provided in and on the end plate of the stationary scroll member at such a position that the check valve opens to allow the gas to be directly discharged from an associated compression chamber into the discharge chamber when the compressor is operated under such a condition that the ratio of the operation pressure ratio to the design pressure ratio of the compressor falls within a range between 0.5 and 0.75.

  • Patent number: 4596520
Abstract: A hermetic scroll compressor having a motor-driven compressor unit mounted in a hermetic housing and constituted by a scroll compressor section and a driving electric-motor section which are drivingly connected to each other through a rotary shaft supported by a bearing on a frame fixed in the housing. The scroll compressor section has a stationary scroll member and an orbiting scroll member having meshing wraps for defining compression chambers therebetween. The pressure of the fluid under compression is introduced into a back pressure chamber formed behind the orbiting scroll member so as to produce an axial thrust which presses the orbiting scroll member onto the stationary scroll member. A lubricating oil collected in the bottom portion of the hermetic housing is sucked up and delivered through a passage formed in the rotary shaft by the pressure differential between the high discharge pressure and the intermediate pressure acting in the back pressure chamber.

  • Patent number: 4557675
Abstract: A scroll-type fluid machine having an orbiting scroll member and a stationary scroll member each having an end plate and a spiral wrap of at least two turns protruding upright from one of the sides of the end plates. The orbiting scroll member has a back pressure chamber formed on the back side thereof and communicating with the compression spaces of the fluid machine through pressure equalizing ports formed in the orbiting scroll member, so that the pressure of the fluid under compression is introduced to the back pressure chamber to produce an axial thrusting force for pressing the orbiting scroll member towards the stationary scroll member. The positions of the pressure equalizing ports in terms of the wrap angle .lambda. of the wraps are selected to meet the following condition:.lambda.d>.lambda.>.lambda.d-2.pi.,where, .lambda.d represents the wrap angle of the wraps when the volume of the compression spaces is minimized. The equalizing ports are positioned at .lambda. and .lambda.+2 .pi..

  • Patent number: 4371319
Abstract: A hermetic motor compressor for compressing refrigerant gas in air conditioners or refrigerators. The hermetic motor compressor includes a motor compressor disposed in a closed housing and consisting of a motor section and a compressor section formed integrally with each other. The compressor section has a cylinder head cover, discharge silencer and discharge tube through which the compressed refrigerant gas is discharged to the outside. The cylinder head cover, discharge silencer and discharge tube are covered by heat insulating members with suitable spaces provided therearound. Heat radiation from the discharge system is therefore prevented by the spaces as well as by the heat insulating members, so that the temperature rise of refrigerant gas in the closed housing is avoided to ensure a higher volumetric efficiency of the compressor.
