  • Patent number: 6894799
Abstract: A facsimile machine (F) that is capable of performing a confidential transmission, broadcast transmission, etc. by batch transmission. If a user of the facsimile machine wants to send a plurality of image data to a recipient, for instance, confidentially and simultaneously at a specified time, the image data is accumulated in a memory box (5a) for confidential batch transmission. The image data is then sent to the recipient by batch transmission. The facsimile machine (F) determines whether image data is for batch transmission or real time transmission. If the image data is for real time transmission, it is not stored in the memory box (5a).

  • Patent number: 6639689
Abstract: A relay broadcast instructing station transmits to a relay broadcast distributing station final distribution recipient's SID, SUB, TSI, and DCS information as well as facsimile data. The relay station then transmits the facsimile data to the recipients. The relay station also sends back to the instructing station a report indicating the delivery status of the facsimile data. The facsimile numbers of the recipients and the facsimile number of the instructing station are pre-stored in a memory of the relay station, and used for the distribution of the facsimile data to the recipients and for the transmission of the distribution report back to the instructing station.

  • Patent number: 6621597
Abstract: When a processing unit is directed by an operating unit to process an additional function or change the current processing conditions, it performs the additional function or changes the processing conditions according to instructions without interrupting the job currently being performed. For example, when instructions for performing copying are received while facsimile transmission is being carried out, the image for transmission stored in an image memory is transmitted, and the same image is printed out from an associated printing device. Likewise, while performing electronically sorted copying, the number of copies can be changed or the document being copied can be transmitted via facsimile. Also, an additional document can be sent to the recipient of a current facsimile transmission, or an additional recipient of a document currently being transmitted can be specified without redialing or rescanning.

  • Publication number: 20030160998
Abstract: A communication system includes a transmitter that transmits formed data formed by an information device or converted data of which a format of the formed data is converted, to a receiving device via a communication device. The information forming device includes a processor that determines an ability of the receiving device and a controller that selects either the formed data or the converted data in accordance with the determined ability and outputs the selected data to the communication device.

  • Patent number: 6603579
Abstract: Image data from a document being scanned is encoded and stored in an image memory (4). As soon as the amount of data in the image memory (4) reaches a pre-set limit, the machine (F) begins transmission of the data to a designated recipient from the image memory (4). If it is determined that there is insufficient memory to store image data of a document being scanned in the image memory (4), the machine suspends scanning of the document, and transmits all the encoded data to the recipient from the image memory (4). Then, the machine (F) resumes the scanning and encoding operations. When it resumes scanning the remaining pages of the document and encoding the resultant image data, it transmits that data directly to the remote party without first storing that data into the image memory (4).

  • Patent number: 5349447
Abstract: The facsimile machine comprises a memory for storing data, a device for comparing identification information of a calling station carried on data transmitted from the calling station with identification information registered beforehand as identification information of communication-permitted stations, and a controller not for printing the received data and not for storing the received data in the memory while performing communication procedure, if the identification information of the calling station does not correspond to the registered identification information. A timer is provided for setting a time zone during which the controller functions. The communication is carried out at the fastest rate if the identification information of the calling station does not correspond to the registered identification information. The controller sends a "transmission succeeded" signal to a sending party even if an error occurs during the data reception.

  • Patent number: 5086455
Abstract: A facsimile arrangement comprises a reception mode switching device adapted to connect a telephone line to the automatic answering telephone set upon detection of an incoming call signal regardless of whether a calling party is sending speech or a facsimile message and a detection device adapted to detect a signal from the calling party's facsimile. The reception mode switching device disconnects the telephone line from the automatic answering telephone set and then connects the telephone line with the facsimile set when the signal from the calling party's facsimile is detected. The calling party does not have to wait for a while when the calling party wants to leave a message since the automatic answering telephone set starts always prior to facsimile unit.
