Abstract: Detergent compositions each of which comprises (A) at least one phosphate ester or a salt thereof represented by the following formula (1): wherein R1 represents a C8-C18 hydrocarbon group, m stands for a number of from 0 to 10 on weight average, X represents H, an alkali metal atom, ammonium, a basic amino acid residual group, or an alkanolamino group having a hydroxy(C2-C3 alkyl) group, and R2 represents —(CH2CH2O)m—R1 or X, or a mixture thereof, and (B) at least one glyceryl ether having a C4-C12 alkyl or alkenyl group. These detergent compositions are low in skin irritation and are good in foaming performance.

Abstract: A gelling agent having a high ability of gelling an oily base which is capable of giving a gel composition having a strong gel strength and a good transparency, a gel composition having a strong gel strength and a good transparency, an external composition having a good feel upon use, a cosmetic preparation having a good feel upon use, and a fragrance composition having a good transparency and a good appearance is provided. An amide compound represented by the following formula 1: is used. In formula 1, R1, R2 and R3 are each independently a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having a carbon number of from 1 to 3 with the proviso that at least one of R1, R2 and R3 is a hydrogen atom.

Abstract: A gelling agent having a high ability of gelling an oily base which is capable of giving a gel composition having a strong gel strength and a good transparency, a gel composition having a strong gel strength and a good transparency, an external composition having a good feel upon use, a cosmetic preparation having a good feel upon use, and a fragrance composition having a good transparency and a good appearance is provided. An amide compound represented by the following formula 1: is used. In formula 1, R1, R2 and R3 are each independently a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having a carbon number of from 1 to 3 with the proviso that at least one of R1, R2 and R3 is a hydrogen atom.

Abstract: Detergent compositions containing (A) an anionic surfactant, (B) an antibacterial agent, and (C) a glyceryl ether having a C4-12 alkyl or alkenyl group. The compositions are excellent in detergency and quick foaming properties, have high antibacterial action and bring about sufficient antipruritic and deodorant effects on the scalp or body and antidandruff effects on the scalp.

Abstract: A process for producing a glyceryl ether which contains a markedly small amount of organohalogen compounds and therefore can be used even for cosmetics and body detergents. The process comprises reacting an alcohol with an &agr;-epihalohydrin in the presence of an acid catalyst, subjecting the reaction mixture to ring closure to convert it into the corresponding glycidyl ether and then hydrolyzing the glycidyl ether, wherein: (a) the hydrolysis is effected at 140 to 230° C. in the presence of a salt formed from a strongly basic compound and a weakly acidic compound, or (b) the reaction mixture after the hydrolysis is heated at 100 to 230° C. in the presence of a salt formed from a strongly basic compound and a weakly acidic compound.

Abstract: An aqueous liquid detergent composition comprises: (A) 1 to 50 wt. % of a surfactant selected from an anionic surfactant, a nonionic surfactant or an amphoteric surfactant; (B) 0.3 to 5 wt. % of a long-chain fatty acid glycol ester represented by the following formula (1):  wherein R1 represents a linear or branched, C13-23 alkyl or alkenyl group, n stands for an integer of 1 to 3, and A represents H  and (C) 0.1 to 10 wt.% of a glyceryl ether having one or more linear or branched, C4-12 alkyl or alkenyl groups.

Abstract: The invention relates to a detergent composition comprising (A) 0.5 to 60% by weight of a surfactant selected from the group consisting of anionic surfactants, nonionic surfactants and amphoteric surfactants, (B) 0.01 to 20% by weight of a conditioning component, and (C) 0.1 to 30% by weight of a monoglyceryl ether having a linear or branched alkyl or alkenyl group having 4 to 12 carbon atoms. The composition is excellent in foaming performance, gives users a pleasant feeling upon use and brings about a sufficient conditioning effect on the skin and hair.

Abstract: A polysaccharide derivative prepared by replacing all or part of the hydroxyl hydrogen atoms of a polysaccharide or polysaccharide derivative by (A) a hydrophobic substituent having a C.sub.8 -C.sub.43 hydrocarbon chain as the partial structure and (B) an ionic hydrophilic substituent having at least one member selected from the group consisting of sulfonic, carboxyl phosphoric, and sulfate groups and salts thereof as the partial structure, wherein the average degree of replacement by the substituent (A) is 0.0001 or above but below 0.001 per constituent monosaccharide residue as determined by Zeisel's method or the diazomethane method and that by the substituent (B) is 0.01 to 2.0 per constituent monosaccharide residue as determined by colloidal titration. This polysaccharide derivative is useful as the admixture for hydraulic materials and can give stable hydraulic compositions excellent in dispersion.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are a polysaccharide derivative obtainable by substituting a part or the whole of hydrogen atoms of hydroxyl groups in a polysaccharide or a derivative thereof by the following substituents (A) and (B):(A) a hydrophobic group containing a C.sub.10 -C.sub.40 alkyl, alkenyl or acyl group which may be substituted by an --OH group or into which an oxycarbonyl group (--COO-- or --OCO--) may be introduced; and(B) a C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 sulfoalkyl group which may be substituted by an --OH group, or a salt thereof, wherein average degrees of substitution by the substituents (A) and (B) per monosaccharide residue are 0.001-1.0 and 0.01-2.0, respectively; a preparation process thereof; and use of the polysaccharide derivative for a thickener for cosmetic compositions.

Abstract: An amide represented by the following formula (1): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are C1-C24 alkyl, etc.; B is C2-C10 alkylene, etc.; A.sup.1 and A.sup.2 are C1-C6 alkylene, etc.; Y.sup.1 and Y.sup.2 are ##STR2## wherein R.sup.3, R.sup.4, and R.sup.5 are C1-C4 alkyl, etc., and X.sup.1 is halogen; or a salt of the amide and detergent compositions containing the amide or salt are mild to the skin or hair, provide a pleasant sensation to the skin or hair, and have excellent latherability and emulsion stability. These compounds are useful as components of various detergents and cosmetic compositions, emulsifiers, and conditioners.

Abstract: The present invention provides a golf clubhead having a head body comprising a face member fitted and secured over an aperture formed in the central area of the head body through the same, and a cavity surrounded by a sole, a toe, a heel and a top blade on a backface of the face member. Wherein the head body comprises a vertical rib extending from the top blade to the sole so as to divide said cavity into a plurality of sections and support the face member and the vertical rib has at the center thereof a means for fastening the face member, and the face member is fastened by the means to the vertical rib.

Abstract: An amide represented by the following formula (1): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are C1-C24 alkyl, etc.; B is C2-C10 alkylene, etc.; A.sup.1 and A.sup.2 are C1-C6 alkylene, etc.; Y.sup.1 and Y.sup.2 are ##STR2## wherein R.sup.3, R.sup.4, and R.sup.5 are C1-C4 alkyl, etc., and X.sup.1 is halogen; or a salt of the amide and detergent compositions containing the amide or salt are mild to the skin or hair, provide a pleasant sensation to the skin or hair, and have excellent latherability and emulsion stability. These compounds are useful as components of various detergents and cosmetic compositions, emulsifiers, and conditioners.

Abstract: An enlarged golf club head has a front wall decreased in thickness, which is sufficient strength, easy to menufacture, and has no increase in total weight. It is a wood or iron golf club head with a plate wall made of a metal, a front side of which provides a front wall having a ball striking front face and a back face at the opposite side thereof, the back face having a plurality of ridges projecting rearwardly of the back face. The ridges extend vertically, horizontally or in both directions of the club head and are disposed at a back of at least a sweet spot of the front face.
