  • Patent number: 8415919
Abstract: When an arriving electric vehicle arrives at a car park with parking spaces, a parking state detection means in a parking and power charging system detects the presence of empty parking spaces. An assignment means assigns a ranking of charging performance to each detected empty parking space so that the empty parking space having the charging device of a higher charging performance has a higher ranking of charging performance on the basis of descending order of charging performance of the charging devices. A communication means obtains vehicle parameters of the arriving electric vehicle. A parking space instruction means instructs the arriving electric vehicle to move to and be parked in the empty parking space having the ranking of charging performance selected on the basis of the vehicle parameter such as necessity to charge or degree to easily charge the on-vehicle battery mounted on the arriving electric vehicle.

  • Patent number: 8284339
Abstract: A column for defining the interval between a TFT substrate and an opposed substrate is formed at a crossing point between a drain line and a scanning line. At the crossing point where the column is formed, the drain line is formed to have a wider width to prevent light leakage. Further, at the crossing point where the column is formed, the scanning line is formed to have a narrower width to prevent increase of capacitance between the drain line and the scanning line. The column is formed at a crossing point corresponding to a specific color, e.g., a blue pixel B, so that a difference in transmittance and in characteristic of thin film transistors due to formation of the column is initially compensated.

  • Patent number: 8212970
Abstract: Disclosed is a liquid display device that is capable of suppressing a change in contrast of a liquid crystal display panel, in which a screen is a curved surface with a curvature in one direction. In a liquid crystal display panel having a cylindrical surface, an upper polarizing plate is attached to a color filter substrate. The upper polarizing plate receives tensile stress in a curved direction. Tensile stress adversely affects polarization characteristics of the upper polarizing plate. According to an embodiment of the invention, if the absorption axis A of the upper polarizing plate is adapted to match with the curved direction of the liquid crystal display panel, it is possible to prevent a change in polarization characteristics of the upper polarizing plate. As a result, it is possible to obtain an image with excellent contrast for a long term.

  • Publication number: 20120087003
Abstract: A pixel is formed by sealing an insulating liquid and floating particles in an area defined by a first substrate, a second substrate and partitions. The width of the partition has to be reduced in order to improve the pixel brightness by enlarging a flat electrode. In this case, the height of the partition has to be reduced for retaining the mechanical strength. If the height of the partition is reduced, an area of the partition electrode becomes small, thus failing to retain the memory effect. The planar surface of the partition is then formed into a zigzag shape so as to increase the area of the partition electrode.

  • Publication number: 20120081643
Abstract: To reduce misalignment between pixels and color filters caused by thermal expansion of substrates in a liquid crystal display device in which an opposing substrate including a resin and including color filters is disposed over a TFT substrate including a glass substrate. Glass fibers are included extendedly in the direction of a black arrow in the opposing substrate. Consequently, the thermal expansion coefficient of the opposing substrate in the direction of the black arrow is close to the thermal expansion coefficient of glass fibers and hence the difference in thermal expansion in the direction of the black arrow between the TFT substrate and the opposing substrate is small. Meanwhile, although the thermal expansion of the opposing substrate in the direction perpendicular to the black arrow is large, color purity is not influenced even if misalignment occurs in the direction.
