  • Patent number: 11826176
Abstract: A computer program and computer-based system for remotely assessing oral health of a person by obtaining at least one digital image (1) of the person's oral cavity and additional non-image data (2) comprising anamnestic information about the person (30). The digital images (1) are segmented using statistical image segmentation algorithms (101,102) to extract visible segments (3), which are further processed to predict any invisible segments (6). The resulting segments are processed by a statistical object detection algorithm (104) using the non-image data (2) as further input to identify dental features (7), which are filtered to select only risk-related dental features (8) using a risk database (9) and mapped to respective tooth regions (11) or oral cavity regions (12) in an Oral Risk Atlas (10).

  • Patent number: 11657600
Abstract: A method for remotely assessing oral health of a user of a mobile device by obtaining, using the mobile device (40), at least one digital image (1) of said user's (30) oral cavity (31) and additional non-image data (2) comprising anamnestic information about the user (30). The digital image (1) is processed both using a statistical object detection algorithm (20) to extract at least one local visual feature (3) corresponding to a medical finding related to a sub-region of said user's oral cavity (31); and also using a statistical image recognition algorithm (21) to extract at least one global classification label (4) corresponding to a medical finding related to said user's oral cavity (31) as a whole. An assessment (10) of the oral health of said user (30) is determined based on the local visual feature(s) (3), the global classification label(s) (4) and the non-image data (2).

  • Publication number: 20230026220
Abstract: A computer program and computer-based system for remotely determining a dental treatment plan (10) of a user (30) of a personal computing device (20) by obtaining, using the personal computing device (20), at least one digital image (1) of the person’s oral cavity (31) and additional non-image data (2) comprising a choice (7) of a predefined topic (5) by said user (30). The digital images (1) and non-image data (2) are processed to extract dental health indicators (8) that are used to evaluate any dental condition (9) of said user (30). A dental treatment plan (10) is generated based on the dental condition (9) and a database (3) defining logical relationships between predefined topics (5) and actions (6) for said user (30) to take, wherein a selection of said actions (6) arranged in a regimen and displayed on a user interface (25) of said personal computing device (20).

  • Publication number: 20220400940
Abstract: A method for obtaining images for assessing oral health using a mobile device (103) having a screen (205) on one side of a housing of the mobile device (103) and a camera (207) on the opposite side of the housing (103), comprising: —on the mobile device (103) performing a dialogue with a user (101) of the mobile device (103), —determining an area of the user's oral cavity with symptoms based on the dialogue, —instructing the user (101) to position him-/herself in front of a minor (102) for capturing an image of the area of the user's oral cavity with symptoms, —capturing at least one image of the area of the user's oral cavity with symptoms with the camera (207) as instructed, and—either processing the at least one image locally on the mobile device (103), or—transmitting the at least one image or a representation thereof to a remote server (409).
