  • Patent number: 9282180
Abstract: This invention provides a mechanism for restricting invocation of wireless mobile terminal (Smartphone) apps whose execution creates a vehicular driving hazard. Events that cause such hazards are included. An event example is “being a vehicle's driver” and attempting to do the app of texting. Events to restrict an app invocation are also included. These include remote restrictions, such as parents remotely turning off the texting app of their children driving an automobile. Spatial parameters, such as driving on high speed and/or heavy traffic roads, also represent restricting events. Events are inserted within an Invoke facility service's Boolean expression by the builder of an Invoke facility service. The Boolean expression determines whether the invocation of its related app takes place.

  • Patent number: 9131328
Abstract: This invention provides a mechanism for invocation of wireless mobile terminal (Smartphone) apps according to spatial events. The spatial events relate to either entering or being within or exiting or being outside of a physical space. For planes, the spatial boundary may be a circle or the perimeter of an arbitrary polygon. For a three dimensional space, the spatial boundary may be a spherical surface or the surface of an arbitrary polyhedron. Spatial parameters, that identify a boundary, are provided by a Smartphone app builder to an interactive compiler for defining a spatial region. The algorithms for doing so are provided herein. The name of the spatial configuration is afterwards inserted within an Invoke facility service's Boolean expression by the builder of an Invoke facility service. The builder defines which manner of spatial event activity is to be utilized within the Boolean expression.

  • Patent number: 9131329
Abstract: This invention provides the processes to efficiently evaluate a Boolean expression of events used to determine if a Smartphone app is to be invoked. Its basis is to establish, for each app, a minimal inverted tree that terminates with leaves that indicate the Boolean expression evaluation of “True” or “False”, where a “True” value indicates the associated app is to be invoked or a “False” indicates the associated app is not to be invoked. The process for minimizing the inverted tree is part of this invention. A metric to measure the efficacy of any inverted tree is also included.

  • Patent number: 8577344
Abstract: This invention provides a mechanism for enhancing safe use of wireless mobile terminals (smartphones) in a moving vehicle. The Invoke facility service's Boolean expression controls the conditions which invoke smartphone apps into execution. Smartphone apps, which are dangerous to execute in a moving vehicle, are prevented from invocation. Elimination of all smartphone apps in moving vehicles is inadvisable. An app, deploying an accelerometer to sense the impact of a serious collision to call “911” with a recorded message and provides the vehicle's GPS location, is an example. This invention allows an app builder to select invocation conditions for apps. Significant is the use manner of the operation “Not”. The contradiction of an event is also an event meaning that if an event is false, its contradictory event is true. Another important aspect is the conjunctive operation “And Then”. This operation implies an efficient algorithm to evaluate Boolean expressions.

  • Patent number: 8369841
Abstract: Invented is a facility service to be used as a component service for building compound wireless mobile communication services (CWSs). The name ascribed to this facility service is Invoke. The purpose of Invoke is to detect the events signifying that the CWS operation is to commence and then initiate (or invoke) the CWS execution. The events represent variables within a Boolean expression parameter of an Invoke service. The Boolean expression allows Invoke to be very versatile with respect to the possible combination of events for CWS invocation. Versatility is enhanced by the wide variety of events that are recognized; e.g., entering a geographical location, recognizing an audio signal, reaching a time of day, observing a specific caller ID. The Invoke facility service contains other parameters useful at CWS invocation; e.g., CWS password protection, CWS initialization of constants and variables, linkage to other CWSs to acquire data.

  • Publication number: 20120220276
Abstract: The principal purpose of this invention is to provide the mechanism for enhancing the safe use of a wireless mobile terminal (smartphone) in a moving vehicle. The Invoke facility service's Boolean expression controls the conditions for which a smartphone app will be invoked into execution. Hence, smartphone apps, which create dangerous circumstances when executed in a moving vehicle, can be prevented from invocation. The total elimination of smartphone use in a moving vehicle is inadvisable. For example, an app that deploys an accelerometer to sense the impact of a vehicle's serious collision and thereby calls “911” to transmit a recorded message that includes the vehicle's GPS location should be allowed to execute when a vehicle is moving. This invention allows an app builder to select suitable invocation conditions for an app. Significant and pertinent to the invention is the manner in which the Boolean logic operation “Not” is used.

  • Patent number: 7424292
Abstract: Described are the concept, processes, and methods to combine an assortment of individually available and executable wireless mobile communication services for the purpose of achieving a desired objective(s). The activity of combining these individual services can be performed by a wireless communication user/subscriber, or a wireless communication service provider, or a wireless communication equipment supplier, or a wireless communication equipment manufacturer, etc. Once combined, these individual services represent an executable sequence that can be appropriately stored in a memory for future invocations by a user/subscriber. That is, a single invocation of the built service combination will execute the sequence of services whenever desired by a user/subscriber.
