Abstract: The present invention provides for lithium battery comprising (a) a cathode or an anode, or both, comprising an additive, or (b) an electrolyte composition comprising optionally an ether solvent, optionally an amphiphilic molecule, an additive, an electrolyte solvent, and a lithium salt; wherein the additive is a silicic acid, silicate, metasilicate, or salt thereof, or a mixture thereof. The present invention also provides for particles in lithium ion-battery electrolytes to improve low temperature performance.

Abstract: A water evacuation system includes a sill providing a dam that defines one or more drain ports, an accumulation chamber defined within the interior of the sill and in fluid communication with the dam via the one or more drain ports, and one or more discharge ports defined in a front face of the sill and in fluid communication with the accumulation chamber. An internal ramp is arranged within the accumulation chamber and includes an angled upper surface directed toward the one or more discharge ports to urge water to the discharge ports. Alternatively, or in addition thereto, a pump is in fluid communication with the sill and a float switch is secured to the sill to send a signal to operate the pump when water accumulating in the sill reaches a predetermined level for evacuation.

Abstract: Polyimide binders and their polyamic precursors to be used for forming electrode structures are provided. The designed polyamic binder precursors are water-soluble, and the resulting polyimide binders are mechanically strong, electrochemically and thermally stable. The properties of polyimide binders have led to significant improvement in electrode compatibility towards new manufactural processes.
