  • Publication number: 20120050723
Abstract: A system and method provide a dual beam chromatic point sensor (CPS) system operable to simultaneously measure two surface regions. In one embodiment, a single beam CPS optical pen may have a dual beam assembly attached. First and second measurement beams of the system may be positioned on respective first and second surface regions, and both reflect light through a confocal aperture of the dual beam CPS. At least one set of measurements is determined, comprising a first and second measurement arising from the first and second measurement beams, respectively. At least the first surface region may be moved to acquire sets of measurements at various positions. Each measurement may be determined with extremely fine resolution (e.g., at least as fine as 10 nm). The system and method satisfy applications that require such resolution and accuracy without the use of an interferometer or other costly and complex elements.

  • Patent number: 8125562
Abstract: Techniques for automatically adjusting and/or optimizing the color and/or intensity of the illuminating light used in a vision system is presented. The intensity of each of a plurality of illuminating light colors is allowed to be independently adjusted to adapt the illumination light based on the color of a part feature against the part feature background of a part being viewed by the vision system to produce high contrast between the part feature and background. Automated contrast optimization may be achieved by stepping through all available color combinations and evaluating the contrast between the part feature and background to select a color combination having a “best” or acceptable contrast level.

  • Patent number: 8123894
Abstract: A method of laminating a surface of a flexible material to a surface of a rigid, curved material. The method includes pressing an area of the surface of the flexible material into the surface of the rigid, curved material with a holder to create a contact area while the flexible material is conformed to the holder, which has a curvature greater than a curvature of the rigid, curved material surface; and changing the contact area between the surface of the flexible material and the surface of the rigid, curved material while maintaining pressure on the contact area until the surface of the flexible material and the surface of the rigid curved material are laminated.

  • Patent number: 8125168
Abstract: A controllable motor includes a rotor. A first stator winding set is operable, upon being energized, to generate and apply a first torque to the rotor. A second stator winding set independent of the first stator winding set is operable, upon being energized, to generate and apply a second torque to the rotor. A motor control is coupled to the first and second stator winding sets. The motor control is operable to selectively energize one of the first or second stator winding sets to thereby generate and apply one of the first or second torques to the rotor, and simultaneously energize both the first and second stator winding sets to thereby generate and apply a third torque greater than the first or the second torque.

  • Publication number: 20120044705
Abstract: A recessed fixture cover device comprising a plurality of components that may be economically and efficiently packed in an unassembled state for transport and/or shipping and then easily assembled to provide a thermal barrier, a fire barrier, an air barrier, a moisture barrier, and/or an insect intrusion barrier between the recessed fixture and the space immediately above and external to the installed cover device. An embodiment of a cover device may comprise two components that may be assembled to form a right-angled parallelepiped shape that lacks a bottom wall thereby allowing the cover device to be lowered onto and enclose a recessed fixture. One or more complimentary connections between abutting edges of the two components allow the two components to be either quickly assembled for use or disassembled for transport or storage thereby providing a benefit to both construction professionals and do-it-yourself property owners.

  • Patent number: 8118790
Abstract: The present invention is an ophthalmic injection system with a limited reuse assembly and a tip segment. The tip segment is connectable to and removable from the limited reuse assembly. The tip segment includes a dispensing chamber, a plunger, and a housing. The dispensing chamber holds a quantity of a substance to be injected into an eye. The proximate end of the plunger has a first mechanical linkage interface. The limited reuse assembly of the ophthalmic injection system has a power source, a controller, a motor, a second mechanical linkage interface located on an end of the motor shaft; and a second housing. The first mechanical linkage interface is mateable with the second mechanical linkage interface such that when the tip segment is connected to the limited reuse assembly, the first mechanical linkage interface mates with the second mechanical linkage interface so that motion of the shaft results in motion of the plunger.

  • Publication number: 20120042252
Abstract: Techniques are provided for cloning a computer desktop to a wireless display surface. A source computer and a display in communication with a destination computer establish a wireless connection. A user console session of the source computer has a virtual display driver that corresponds to the wireless display. An application of the console session instructs the virtual display driver to render graphics to a display surface. The source computer takes this graphical information that, when executed on a processor generate an image, text, sound or input—encodes it with a remote presentation protocol. Through encoding and decoding image data, text, sound, and input of the user console session transmitted to a wireless display with a remote presentation protocol, fidelity and interactivity are improved.

  • Publication number: 20120042275
Abstract: Techniques are provided for cloning specific windows of a computer desktop to a wireless display surface. The user console session of a source computer and a destination computer establish a wireless communications channel. The user console session determines a specific window or windows to share with the destination computer, such that the destination computer will display the window(s) on a wireless display. The user console session extracts these window(s) and encodes them with a remote presentation protocol, then transmits the encoded window to the destination computer, such that the encoded windows are not transferred through a second user session of the source computer before being transferred to the destination computer. Upon receiving the encoded window, the destination computer decodes the encoded windows and displays them on the wireless display.
