  • Patent number: 7707185
Abstract: A process of providing access to data associated with a virtual machine running on a host computer system to an offload server is implemented to improve the performance of the host computer system. Once the offload computer system knows how and where to access the data associated with that of the virtual machine, operations can be offloaded from the host computer system and performed by the offload server. Backup operations can be offloaded onto the server. The server can run backup software and directly access the data associated with the virtual machine, thereby freeing the hardware resources of the host computer to handle normal applications running on the virtual machine.

Abstract: A rotor (or a stator) for a superconducting electrical machine includes a mounting that is maintained at substantially ambient temperature during operation of the electrical machine and a field coil support structure. A plurality of superconducting field coils are maintained at cryogenic temperatures during operation of the electrical machine and are supported by the field coil support structure. At least one coupling element is used to fix the field coil support structure to the mounting. The field coil support structure is preferably fixed to the mounting by a plurality of substantially circumferentially extending coupling elements at a first and second axial end of the field coil support structure and the mounting such that the mounting and field coil support structure are substantially separated over their axial lengths by a vacuum gap.

  • Publication number: 20100100786
Abstract: A methodology to perform testing of integrated circuits (IC) wherein a reduced number of Input/Output (IO) pins may used to load testing patterns and capture test results from test structures after an IC has been installed in its intended application is provided. This methodology utilizes a software engine that receives and translates a parallel test pattern into serial data patterns operable to be provided on the reduced number of I/O pins. A serial process loader then loads the serial data patterns to the test structures within the IC. The IC receives the serial patterns and in turn translates them into parallel test patterns in order to apply the test patterns to the appropriate test structures. The results are captured and then translated into a serial format for communication from the IC to a test unit for analysis.

  • Publication number: 20100095658
Abstract: Soot filters for removing soot from the exhaust gas of lean-burn engines become blocked with progressive operating duration on account of the deposition of soot, and must therefore be regenerated at regular intervals. It has been found that reliable operation of the soot filter is possible only if an active regeneration is carried out from time to time by increasing the exhaust-gas temperature to the soot ignition temperature. For this purpose, an oxidation catalytic converter is usually arranged upstream of the soot filter, and the exhaust-gas temperature is increased by means of the catalytic combustion of additionally injected fuel. Here, the oxidation catalytic converter is subjected to high temperature loading and therefore ages very quickly.

  • Publication number: 20100096089
Abstract: An apparatus for high speed labeling of produce including a turret which carries label depositor arms and continuously rotates so that its fully extended tangential speed matches the produce conveyor speed. The label depositor arms are reciprocated along a predetermined path by a mechanical linkage. A supply of pressurized air and vacuum are selectively delivered to the label depositor arms to pick-up a print-on-demand label and adhere it to the produce. One or more rotating turrets are included within a system for high speed labeling. The system monitors a common shaft which drives a conveyor that moves multiple lanes of produce under corresponding turrets. A conveyor offset signal in combination with a printer offset control, allows the system to independently synchronize the high-speed labeling operation at each lane.

  • Publication number: 20100095979
Abstract: A remote plasma process for removing unwanted deposition build-up from one or more interior surfaces of a substrate processing chamber after processing a substrate disposed in the substrate processing chamber. In one embodiment, the substrate is transferred out of the substrate processing chamber and a flow of a fluorine-containing etchant gas is introduced into a remote plasma source where reactive species are formed. A continuous flow of the reactive species from the remote plasmas source to the substrate processing chamber is generated while a cycle of high and low pressure clean steps is repeated. During the high pressure clean step, reactive species are flown into the substrate processing chamber while pressure within the substrate processing chamber is maintained between 4-15 Torr.

  • Patent number: 7701984
Abstract: A laser module has an optical amplifier, a first etalon and a wavelength selectable mirror. The first etalon has wavelength peaks at a given wavelength interval in transmission characteristics and transmits a light from the optical amplifier. The wavelength peaks are tunable. The wavelength selectable mirror acts as an external mirror of an external cavity laser including the optical amplifier, and has a relatively high reflection intensity at a part of wavelength range in an effective gain range of the optical amplifier. The effective gain range of the optical amplifier includes more than one wavelength peak of the first etalon. A reflection bandwidth where the wavelength selectable mirror has a relatively high reflection intensity is less than twice of the wavelength interval of the wavelength peaks of the first etalon.
