  • Publication number: 20130199894
Abstract: A universally adjustable star wheel for conveying articles on an automated handling line is disclosed. In one embodiment, the adjustable star wheel includes rotatable elements that are configured to rotate around a central axis. Each rotatable element has a central axis, a periphery, and at least one control surface for assisting in controlling the article being conveyed. The control surfaces on the rotatable elements are arranged to together form at least one pocket for the article, wherein the pocket has a width and a depth. The angle defining the control surface on at least one rotatable element is different from the angle of another rotatable element to form the depth of at least a portion of the pocket. In this embodiment, the boundaries of the pocket are configured solely by at least partially rotating at least some of the rotatable elements to adjust the location of the control surfaces of the different rotatable elements to form a pocket for the article being conveyed.

  • Publication number: 20130195774
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards a process for making oral compositions comprising gel networks. The gel networks are formed from a fatty amphiphile dispersion and swelling surfactant. The fatty amphiphile dispersion comprises one or more fatty amphiphiles, one or more dispersing surfactants, and one or more solvents. A gel network is formed when the fatty amphiphile dispersion is combined with the swelling surfactant. A method of preparing the fatty amphiphile dispersion and oral composition is included.

  • Publication number: 20130189332
Abstract: A method for smoothing skin comprising applying a composition that has from about 0.5 to about 4% sodium silicate as measured by silica content (SiO2) and from about 0.1% to about 4.0% of a polyvalent silicate. The composition is provided in a carrier, for example, from about 10 to 98% water, and can be in the form of a water gel or oil-in-water emulsion. A second composition is applied before or after the first composition wherein the second composition is selected from the group consisting of an oil-in-water emulsion, water-in-oil emulsion, thickened water gel, thickened oil phase, encapsulated oil phase, solid oil phase, and mixtures thereof. The polyvalent silicate can be a silicate clay selected from the group consisting of bentonite, laponite, smectite, and kaolinite.

  • Publication number: 20130184668
Abstract: An absorbent article and method of making an absorbent article. The absorbent article has a first layer and a second layer in facing relationship with one another. The first layer has a first imparted colored region coincident with the longitudinal centerline. The second layer has a second imparted colored region laterally more extensive in a direction orthogonally away from the longitudinal centerline than the first imparted colored region. The second imparted colored region extends across the longitudinal centerline and has free ends. The absorbent article has a background region. • Publication number: 20130181133
Abstract: A system for imaging a distribution of an absorbent material within an absorbent article. The system includes a radiation source and a detector positioned such that the absorbent article is situated between the radiation source and the detector. The absorbent article includes an absorbent material having a spatial distribution within the absorbent article. Infrared radiation within a particular wavelength range (e.g., 3 ?m to 3.2 ?m) is more likely to be absorbed by the absorbent material than by other materials within the absorbent article. The radiation source is configured to generate infrared radiation incident on the absorbent article. The detector is configured to detect a quantity of the infrared radiation within the particular wavelength range that was transmitted through the absorbent article. The radiation source is further configured to generate data indicative of the spatial distribution of the absorbent material based on the detected quantity of the infrared radiation.
