  • Publication number: 20140248709
Abstract: Non-linear spectroscopic devices, systems, and methods for probing molecules. A non-linear spectroscopic method for probing molecules can include providing a plurality of molecules in an aqueous solution, the providing being effective for permitting the molecules to be free in said aqueous solution and without the molecules being bound to another material such that second harmonic or sum frequency coherent light would result from the illumination of the molecules changes in their conformation. The method can also include probing the molecules by directing light at one or more selected frequencies to generate second harmonic or sum frequency incoherent light resulting from predefined interactions between the first and second molecules and capturing the incoherent light and detecting the same.

Abstract: Systems and methods for matching a characteristic of multiple sectors of a moving tissue to verify an overlap thereof are disclosed herein. In an exemplary method, tissue data for at least a first sector and a second sector of a moving tissue is acquired. A characteristic of at least a portion of the first and second sectors is estimated from the acquired tissue data, and the estimated characteristics are matched to verify whether a portion of the first sector overlaps with a portion of the second sector. Estimating can include estimating a displacement such as an axial displacement and/or lateral displacements. Estimating can further include estimating a strain, a velocity, a strain rate and/or a stiffness or equivalent.

  • Publication number: 20130318606
Abstract: Systems and methods for correlating and distributing intrusion alert information among collaborating computer systems are provided. These systems and methods provide an alert correlator and an alert distributor that enable early signs of an attack to be detected and rapidly disseminated to collaborating systems. The alert correlator utilizes data structures to correlate alert detections and provide a mechanism through which threat information can be revealed to other collaborating systems. The alert distributor uses an efficient technique to group collaborating systems and then pass data between certain members of those groups according to a schedule. In this way data can be routinely distributed, without generating excess traffic loads.

  • Publication number: 20130287136
Abstract: The present disclosure shows new mechanisms fir sampling an input signal. In particular, some embodiments of the present disclosure include a new type of a level-crossing sampling mechanism called a derivative level-crossing sampling (D-LCS). At a high level, D-LCS involves quantizing the derivative of an input signal when the derivative of the input signal crosses one of the quantization thresholds. For certain class of signals, the derivative of the input signal can vary at a slower speed compared to the amplitude of the input signal. Therefore, by sampling the derivative of the input signal, instead of the input signal itself, the number of samples per unit time can be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20130239210
Abstract: A system and methods of detecting an occurrence of a violation of an email security policy of a computer system. A model relating to the transmission of prior emails through the computer system is defined which is derived from statistics relating to the prior emails. For selected emails to be analyzed, statistics concerning the selected email are gathered. Such statistics may refer to the behavior or other features of the selected emails, attachments to emails, or email accounts. The determination of whether a violation of an email security policy has occurred is performed by applying the model of prior email transmission to the statistics relating to the selected email. The model may be statistical or probabilistic. A model of prior email transmission may include grouping email recipients into cliques. A determination of a violation of a security policy may occur if email recipients for a particular email are in more than one clique.

  • Publication number: 20130230870
Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention is directed to methods for diagnosis of urinary tract obstruction (UTO), and to methods for distinguishing between unilateral and bilateral UTO. In some aspects, the diagnostic methods of the invention are based on determining whether a bodily fluid sample, such as a urine sample, contains an amount of NGAL protein that exceeds or is less than a certain threshold level, or that falls within a certain range. The present invention also provides diagnostic kits for the diagnosis of UTO and for distinguishing between unilateral and bilateral UTO.

  • Publication number: 20130225419
Abstract: A library includes H unique nucleotide sequences involving every position along I continuous positions in a molecule. A method to prepare the library includes obtaining a microarray with a bound probe of up to J nucleotides, J=I+L, for H different probes. The first L nucleotides are reverse complementary to a constant portion in the library at a 5? end. The remaining nucleotides of different probes are reverse complementary to corresponding different library members. A primer equal to the constant portion in the library is introduced. The primer is extended along the probe as a library strand using DNA polymerase. A first strand of a double stranded linker is ligated with a phosphate group to the library strand. The first strand has a sequence that matches a constant portion in the library at a 3? end. The library strand is stripped from the probe and from a different second strand of the linker.
