  • Publication number: 20100128381
Abstract: A system and method for providing a command queue selection scheme by selecting commands by giving preference to commands based on the power consumption characteristics the command. In one embodiment the selection scheme involves calculating the value of the cost of energy saving associated with the access of a command by an evaluation function Costi=EAT+C×F1 (seek distance, latency). C is a dynamically adjustable power control function that determines how much power decreases with the selection of a particular command and F1 is a functional calculation of the power consumption value associated with the particular command. In one embodiment commands with low power consumption will be accessed in preference to commands with shorter seek distance.

  • Patent number: 7723208
Abstract: Trenches may be formed in the upper surfaces of a pair of wafers. Each trench may be coated with a catalyst that is capable of removing oxygen or hydrogen from a fluid used for cooling in a system making use of the electroosmotic effect for pumping. Channels may be formed to communicate fluid to and from the trench coated with the catalyst. The substrates may be combined in face-to-face abutment, for example using copper-to-copper bonding to form a re-combiner.

  • Publication number: 20100123506
Abstract: Multistage signal amplification, including level translation, improves signal integrity, e.g., slew rate, complementary signal delay and duty cycle performance, by mirroring complementary output current in an output stage based on a signal developed in an input stage pull-up network. A multistage amplifier may comprise a first stage comprising a differential input circuit coupled, respectively, between first and second inputs and first and second nodes, wherein the first node is coupled to a first pull-up circuit controlled by the first node and the second node is coupled to a second pull-up circuit controlled by the second node; and a second stage comprising a complementary output circuit coupled, respectively, between first and second nodes and first and second outputs, wherein a current mirror sinks essentially the same current at the first output as is sourced at the second output and vice versa. The pull-up network may further comprise a cross-coupled pull-up circuit.

  • Patent number: 7719947
Abstract: A reading device for holographic storage includes a light source, a light-directing component, an optical sensor and a prism. The light-directing component is disposed on the transmission path of the light beam provided by the light source and directs the light beam to get incidence at a holographic storage medium in a reading angle to generate a data beam. The optical sensor is suitable for reading the data beam and reproducing stored data. The prism is disposed between the light source and the holographic storage medium and rotatable about a rotation axis perpendicular to the transmission path of the light beam for fine-adjusting the reading angle. The prism and the light beam satisfy the following formula: ?{square root over (n2?sin2I1)}×sin A?cos A sin I1<1 I1 is the angle of incidence of the light beam, A is the vertex angle between the light incident surface and the light emerging surface and n is the refractive index of the prism.

  • Publication number: 20100117644
Abstract: A method for acquiring magnetic resonance (MR) data for a three-dimensional (3D) dynamic study includes partitioning a ky-kz plane with a plurality of views into an inner region and a plurality of outer regions. The inner region includes a set of views in a central region of the ky-kz plane and each outer region includes a plurality of views outside of the central region of the ky-kz plane. The method also includes partitioning each outer region into a plurality of radial fan beam segments, defining a first view ordering for the inner region and defining a second view ordering for each outer region. Once the ky-kz plane is partitioned and the view orderings are defined, MR data is acquired for the set of views in the inner region and for all of the views in each of the outer regions in an alternating acquisition order where the set of views in the inner region are acquired more frequently than the views in each of the outer regions. At least one MR image is generated based on the acquired MR data.
