Patent number: 6635548Abstract: A method of forming an integrated circuit interconnect level capacitor is disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment, the method includes depositing a first insulator layer over an interconnect level surface of a semiconductor substrate having active devices. First and second conductive lines are formed in the first insulator layer, and the first insulator layer is etched to form a trench therein between the first and second conductive lines. A first conductive layer is deposited over the first and second conductive lines the said trench. A second insulator layer is deposited over the first conductive layer, and a second conductive layer is deposited over the second insulator layer. Then, a third conductive line is formed and disposed in the trench, the third conductive line overlying the second conductive barrier layer.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 2001Date of Patent: October 21, 2003Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Kerry Bernstein, Nicholas Theodore Schmidt, Anthony K. Patent number: 6384468Abstract: An integrated circuit interconnect level capacitor is disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment, the capacitor includes a first insulator layer overlying an interconnect level surface of a semiconductor substrate having active devices. First and second conductive lines are provided in the first insulator layer and are separated by a trench defined by the first insulator layer and by sidewalls of the first and second conductive lines. A first conductive barrier layer overlies and connects the first and second conductive lines, and a second insulator layer overlies the first conductive barrier layer. A second conductive barrier layer overlies the second insulator layer, and a third conductive line is disposed in the trench and overlies the second conductive barrier layer.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2000Date of Patent: May 7, 2002Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Kerry Bernstein, Nicholas Theodore Schmidt, Anthony K. Patent number: 5705407Abstract: High-performance bipolar transistors with improved wiring options and fabrication methods therefore are set forth. The bipolar transistor includes a base contact structure that has multiple contact pads which permit multiple device layouts when wiring to the transistor. For example, a first device layout may comprise a collector-base-emitter device layout, while a second device layout may comprise a collector-emitter-base device layout. More specifically, the base contact structure at least partially surrounds the emitter and has integral contact pads which extend away from the emitter. Further, sections of the base contact structure are disposed on an insulating layer outside of the perimeter of the base region of the transistor, while other sections directly contact the base region. Specific details of the bipolar transistor, and fabrication methods therefore are also set forth.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 1996Date of Patent: January 6, 1998Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: James Stuart Dunn, Michael Dean Hulvey, Eric David Johnson, Robert Andrew Kertis, Kenneth Knetch Kieft, III, Albert Edson Lanpher, Nicholas Theodore Schmidt

Patent number: 4776684Abstract: The invention concerns a very large optical telescope for observing light phenomena in the wave length region of about 0.3 to 30 or even to 300 .mu.m. To realize a very large filled aperture it is proposed to arrange comparatively few individual reflectors around a central monolith, which can be individually adjusted optically to the central monolith which gives the reference wave front, by means of an adjustment device and/or bright starts. In this way manufacturing, polishing and transport of very large primary reflectors can be handled. Further deformations due to wind loads, temperature variations and other influences can be easily compensated. The primary reflector is carried by a yoke with the focus of the secondary mirror being in or near the elevation axis so that the usual mirror cell becomes superfluous, the beam moves only slowly with elevation and heavy instrumentation can be put directly near the focus.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 1986Date of Patent: October 11, 1988Inventor: Theodor Schmidt-Kaler

Patent number: 3976423Abstract: A cooled furnace transport roller comprises a hollow cylindrical roller having an intermediate furnace space portion which is adapted to be positioned in a furnace and with a stub shaft portion adjacent each end which is supported on bearing means located exteriorly of the furnace. A hollow interior tube is located on the interior of the cylindrical roller and is spaced inwardly therefrom and it defines a space between its exterior and the interior of the hollow cylindrical roller for the flow of a coolant gas which is returned through openings of the hollow interior tube and through the interior thereof. A tubular wire net cooling insert is located in the space between the hollow interior tube and the cylindrical roller interior and it is formed with a wire mesh having good heat resistance and good heat conductivity.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 1975Date of Patent: August 24, 1976Assignee: Ludwig-Ofag-Indugas Industrieofenanlagen GmbHInventor: Theodor Schmidt
