  • Patent number: 6945763
Abstract: A geared feed pump has a housing having a pump chamber in which a rotationally driven pair of gear wheels meshing with one another is disposed for pumping medium out of a suction chamber that communicates with a supply tank, along feed conduits, formed between the circumferential surface of the gear wheels and the circumferential walls of the pump chamber, into a pressure chamber. A drive shaft connected with one of the gear wheels via a coupling member is disposed inside the housing in a coupling chamber. The coupling chamber has a connection with the pressure chamber, so that lubrication of the coupling member is effected by the pumping medium.

  • Publication number: 20030180160
Abstract: The geared feed pump has a housing (10, 12) in which a pump chamber (14) is formed, in which chamber a rotationally driven pair of gear wheels (16, 18) meshing with one another is disposed, which gear wheels pump a pumping medium out of a suction chamber (44) that communicates with a supply tank, along feed conduits (48), formed between the circumferential surface of the gear wheels (16, 18) and the circumferential walls of the pump chamber (14), into a pressure chamber (46). The geared feed pump has a drive shaft (30), which is connected in a rotationally engaged manner with one of the gear wheels (16) via a coupling member (40) disposed inside the housing (10, 11) in a coupling chamber (41). The coupling chamber (41) has a connection (32, 54, 56) with the pressure chamber (46), so that lubrication of the coupling member (40) is effected by the pumping medium. The geared feed pump is used to pump Diesel fuel from a supply tank to a fuel injection pump of a self-igniting internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 6050795
Abstract: The invention relates to a fuel feed pump for a fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines, having a pair of gear wheels that mesh with one another and are driven to rotate in a pump chamber. The pair of gear wheels pump fuel out of an intake chamber that communicates with a supply tank along a feed conduit, formed between the end face of the gear wheels and the circumferential wall of the pump chamber, into a pressure chamber that communicates with the fuel injection pump. One gear wheel is secured to a shaft is driven to rotate by means of a drive element that engages the shaft, wherein the drive element can be connected to the shaft by an overload safety device.

  • Patent number: 5221196
Abstract: A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines having a reciprocating pump piston and an annular slide displaceable on it, with a control bore that cooperates with a control recess on the pump piston, the recess communicates with a pump work chamber via a conduit. By means of location of control bores in the annular slide, the outflow stream is provided with the longest possible path until the outflow stream strikes the wall of the cylinder liner, in order to attain the freest and most unhindered possible stream course with reduced turbulence. Because the outflow stream strikes the hardened surface of the niche wall of the cylinder liner obliquely, cavitation damage is greatly attenuated or locally limited to sites of maximum resistance.

  • Patent number: 5015160
Abstract: An injection pump for internal combustion engines having a pump piston bushing, a pump piston, guided in the bushing, including control edges for controlling the beginning and end of an injection event. The control edges cooperate with control bores provided in the wall of the pump piston bushing that discharge into a reservoir chamber surrounding the pump piston bushing; fuel can be delivered into this chamber under pressure, and excess fuel, or fuel overflowing at the end of an injection event, can be diverted from it. For the fuel delivery, a suction valve opening to the reservoir chamber is connected to the reservoir chamber, while for the fuel diversion, a check valve in the form of a pressure maintenance valve that opens away from the reservoir chamber is connected to the reservoir chamber. This pressure maintenance valve may be preceded on the inlet side by a throttle restriction.

  • Patent number: 4964789
Abstract: A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines has a pump piston that is axially and rotationally movable in a cylinder and has a control edge and a diversion edge that defines a recess in the jacket face of the pump piston. To limit and adjust the effective supply stroke, the control edge and the diversion edge cooperate with a control opening in the cylinder, which opening communicates with a fuel-filled low-pressure chamber. To prevent cavitation damage during the diversion process, a pre-diversion groove, which extends approximately parallel to the diversion edge, is provided in the portion of the jacket face of the pump piston defined by the control edge and the diversion edge. It is disposed at a distance from the diversion edge such that immediately before the entry of the diversion edge into the control opening, representing the onset of diversion, it connects the pump work chamber, which is at high pressure, to the control opening.

  • Patent number: 4957418
Abstract: An injection pump for internal combustion engines having a pump piston and a pump piston bushing, to which a suction chamber is connected, the connection of the suction chamber to the work chamber of the pump is overtaken by the pump piston upon supply onset, and in which a diversion of the pump pressure at the end of supply is effected by re-opening the communication with the suction chamber. At least one separate diversion chamber, defined by a pressure maintenance valve and a throttle is connected to the work chamber via a connection that is likewise openable and closable upon the compression stroke; this connection to the work chamber is opened earlier, at the end of pump supply, than a further connection to the suction chamber.

  • Patent number: 4426982
Abstract: In a process for controlling the beginning of delivery of a fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines having fuel injection, particularly Diesel engines, in dependence on the torque and under consideration of immediately measurable operation parameters, at least the revolution speed. The torque is determined from the intake boost pressure generated by a turbocharger and optionally from that amount of air which is blown off at increasing revolution speed above a certain intake boost pressure.A device for performing said process comprises a processor for performing at least one calculating operation provided with a store for storing the program to be executed, sensors transmitting signals to the processor representative of operation parameters of the injection-type internal combustion engine, and actuating means for controlling the beginning of fuel delivery of the fuel injection pump being connected with the processor.
