  • Publication number: 20070130844
Abstract: An isolation shelter includes, in its interior, an inner closure defining an isolation space. The isolation space is at a pressure less than the pressure of the environment in the shelter interior, at the outside of the inner enclosure. An outer enclosure of the shelter encloses a sealed region defined at least in part by a structural element contained within the shelter interior A sealed space, which is partially defined by any portion of the outer enclosure that can become exposed to the environment outside the outer enclosure, extends from the outer enclosure into the shelter interior. The sealed space is at a pressure exceeding the pressure of the environment outside of the shelter, thereby substantially preventing contamination in the environment outside the shelter from entering the shelter interior and passing to the isolation space. The pressure in the isolation space substantially prevents contaminants from escaping the isolation space into the environment outside the isolation shelter.

  • Publication number: 20060286921
Abstract: In one example, an air processing system comprises an inlet portion defining a first inlet to receive internal air from a room and a second inlet to receive air external to the room. An air decontamination portion is downstream of the inlet portion. A first outlet portion to the room is downstream of the air decontamination portion. A HEGA filter is downstream of the first outlet. A first damper is downstream of the air decontamination portion and upstream of the HEGA filter to selectively direct air to the first outlet and the gas absorber. A second damper and a second outlet are downstream of the HEGA filter. The first and second dampers are configured and positionable to selectively seal an upstream side and a downstream side of the gas absorber, respectively, when not in use. Safe rooms including the system are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20060247487
Abstract: An isolation container includes an isolation space for receiving an object and maintains the isolation space substantially isolated while providing for continuous access to, and maneuverability within, the isolation space through one or more access ports. An air management system re-circulates air through the isolation space to create a negative or positive pressure within the space, and is operable to filter, and optionally adjust the temperature and humidity of, the re-circulating air. In an embodiment of the isolation container configured for transporting a patient in the isolation space, a communications system is also coupled to the isolation space to provide for audio, video or other data communications between the patient and a communications device external to the isolation container.

  • Publication number: 20050211415
Abstract: In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, an integrated air processing device comprises a housing defining an air inlet, an air outlet, and a pathway from the inlet to the outlet. An air decontamination section, an air conditioning section, and a heating section are provided along the pathway. A blower is also provided along the pathway, to drive air from the inlet to the outlet, along the pathway. In another example, an integrated air processing device comprises a housing as above, and an air conditioning section and a heating section along the pathway. An air decontamination section and/or a blower may also be provided along the pathway. In accordance with another embodiment, a portable isolation containment system comprises one or more portable containment enclosures coupled to the integrated air processing devices described above. Methods are disclosed, as well.
