  • Patent number: 7485099
Abstract: Systems and methods for measuring the pressure exerted between or within anatomical masses/structures, as well as the position and/or spatial dimensions of an anatomical structure. According to a preferred embodiment, the invention comprises a sensor element positionable between anatomical structures or within an anatomical structure. The sensor is operative to generate a signal indicative of the pressure being exerted therebetween or therewithin. The sensor may be operative to measure spatial dimensions between structures or within a structure. A monitor coupled to the sensor receives a signal generated thereby and provides an indication as to the spacing or pressure being measured. The systems and methods may be utilized in diagnostic tests or surgical procedures.

  • Publication number: 20050004576
Abstract: Self-anchoring slings and deployment mechanisms for use therewith in selectively positioning a sling into position within the body. According to a preferred embodiment, the sling comprises an elongate sling portion having opposed ends. Formed upon each respective opposed end is an anchor member operative to be percutaneously advanced through soft tissue at a selected target site in a first direction but resist movement in an opposed direction. Such anchor members are operative to extend in opposed directions to thus enable a sling to be securely affixed into position and resist sag or otherwise lose its ability to support a given structure.

  • Publication number: 20040133463
Abstract: On-line survey method. According to a preferred embodiment, a communication link is established to a target individual, typically through a personal computer via e-mail or a website, and information is obtained from the individual indicative of the individual's identity, as well as whether or not the individual fits a particular profile. To the extent the individual meets a requisite profile, the individual is provided with a contract wherein such individual, upon completing a survey or questionnaire, is in turn provided with an incentive. The individual is then given a limited amount of time to complete and return the survey via the communication link. The survey is then reviewed for completeness and, to the extent certain threshold criteria is met, the incentive is then provided to the individuals.

  • Publication number: 20030220833
Abstract: On-line advertising methods are disclosed. A central web site is maintained that is accessible to potential consumers and provides information and/or entertainment related to a particular subject and/or targeted group of consumers. As consumers peruse content data of such web site, the consumer is ultimately provided with an obligation to provide criteria indicative of the consumer, and in particular, demographic data such as the geographic area where the consumer conducts business. In response to the data provided by the consumer, advertising and promotional material of a specific vendor or service provider is brought to the consumer's attention. The on-line methods are particularly well suited for health care workers, namely physicians in the development of their medical practices.
