  • Patent number: 4676936
Abstract: The thickness of the barrier layer in coextruded multilayer, thermoformable resinous sheet material is controlled by transverse color monitoring during coextrusion of the sheet.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 23, 1985
Date of Patent: June 30, 1987
    Assignee: The Dow Chemical Company
Inventors: Theodore C. Wallace, Janet M. Streif
  • Patent number: 4649164
Abstract: Foamed water-swellable polymeric water absorbent materials are prepared by contacting a polymer capable of having a water-swellable character and containing acid moieties in acid form with a blowing agent such as sodium bicarbonate, which blowing agent is capable of neutralizing the acid moieties of the polymer. The foamed polymers are useful in a wide variety of water absorbent applications.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 3, 1985
Date of Patent: March 10, 1987
    Assignee: The Dow Chemical Company
Inventors: Laurie J. Scott, Robert E. Erickson, Theodore C. Wallace
  • Patent number: 4647509
Abstract: A multilayer thermoformable packaging material is provided and includes one layer of barrier material containing a resin having low gas and vapor transmission properties. The multilayer structure also includes one layer which utilizes scrap produced from the multilayer structure. Other optional layers may be included in the structure to provide additional features such as rigidity and toughness.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 7, 1985
Date of Patent: March 3, 1987
    Assignee: The Dow Chemical Company
Inventors: Theodore C. Wallace, Bernie A. Kozakiewicz
