Patent number: 11118761Abstract: An end cap mounting system for a lens of a lighting fixture includes a lens engagement portion having a proximal end, a distal end, an outer surface and an inner surface. The inner surface defines a cavity extending distally into the lens engagement portion from the proximal end for a cavity depth to a cavity end surface. The cavity has an inner wall with a perimeter corresponding to a first asymmetric shape of an outer profile of a lens. A central protrusion extends proximally from the cavity end surface towards the proximal end. The protrusion has an outer wall with a perimeter that corresponds to a second asymmetric shape of an inner profile of the lens. A gasket-receiving recess is positioned proximate to the cavity end surface between the outer wall of the central protrusion and the inner wall of the cavity to receive a gasket.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2020Date of Patent: September 14, 2021Assignee: Universal Lighting Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Arjun P. Patent number: 10560993Abstract: A dimming controller is coupled to receive an out-source current from a dimming interface for each LED driver connected thereto. Based on the out-source current received, the controller can estimate the number of connected LED drivers. When the LED driver(s) are determined to be on based on the received out-source current, the dimming controller generates and transmits a dimming control voltage. The dimming controller is programmable with relationships between the dimming control voltage and operational parameters for the certain type of LED driver and the certain type of LED load. The dimming controller then estimates the power characteristics (e.g., the input power and the output power) of the LED driver and associated LED load based on the programmed relationships. Power characteristics can accordingly be reported to the customer via a dimming controller without requiring specifically designed power measuring devices. Driver failure in the group can be reported in real time.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2019Date of Patent: February 11, 2020Assignee: Universal Lighting Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Wei Xiong, Theodore E. Patent number: 9618164Abstract: An adapter is provided for retrofitting a lighting fixture with a light emitting diode (LED) lamp. The adapter includes a pin plate and a retaining ring. The pin plate includes at least one pin extending outward from a distal side of the pin plate. The retaining ring includes a base, at least one arm, and at least one projecting member, each having inward and outward surfaces. The at least one pin restricts movement of the adapter when the adapter is rotated to a restraining position. The at least one projecting member causes the inward surface of the at least one projecting member to face the inward surface of the base. The at least one projecting member restricts movement of the adapter in a direction corresponding to an axis of rotation of the adapter using the at least one projecting member.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 2015Date of Patent: April 11, 2017Assignee: Universal Lighting Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Travis L. Berry, Keith Davis, Theodore E. Kluska, Wei Xiong

Patent number: 9435527Abstract: A light emitting apparatus includes a substrate, a light emitter mounted on the substrate, and a lens at least partially covering the light emitter, the lens defining a space about the light emitter. A heat sink is attached to the substrate. The heat sink is configured to dissipate heat from the light emitter via the substrate. The substrate includes an opening communicated with the space. A vent passage is at least partially defined between the heat sink and the substrate, the vent passage communicating the opening in the substrate with an exterior of the heat sink.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 2014Date of Patent: September 6, 2016Assignee: Universal Lighting Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Theodore E. Kluska, Travis L. Berry

Patent number: 6096973Abstract: The aerial terminal has a tray assembly having zero, one, or more holes for paired-conductor drop wires, as well as one or more converter holes for converters (e.g., baluns), each of which allows signals over an additional conductor pair to be converted and sent through a coaxial-cable drop wire. The tray assembly enables the aerial terminal to be used to distribute to customers both communication signals and broadband signals carried by a multi-wire distribution cable. In a preferred embodiment, the tray assembly of the present invention is designed to replace the grommet trays of prior-art Flexterm.RTM. 5000 Aerial Terminals by Lucent Technology, Inc., that are already in service, without disturbing any of the connections between the distribution cable and the terminal block of the existing aerial terminal.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 1997Date of Patent: August 1, 2000Assignee: Lucent Technologies Inc.Inventors: Theodore E. Patent number: 5632647Abstract: Disclosed is a combined RF/power tap unit. The power and RF portions are provided in separate compartments with a cover for the power compartment so that access to the internal RF circuitry is possible without disturbing the power compartment. The cover for the power portion extends beyond the sides of the compartment, and the compartment includes appropriate grooves and seals to protect the wire connections from the outside environment. Detents are provided in one side of the compartment to hold the drop wires, and ribs in the cover supply strain relief.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 1994Date of Patent: May 27, 1997Assignee: Lucent Technologies Inc.Inventors: Donald P. Dobbin, Theodore E. Kluska, Arnold R. Smith

Patent number: 5549489Abstract: Disclosed is a connector module which permits a make-before-break contact when inserting jumper or test access leads. The stem portions of the contacts make physical and electrical contact at two points which are aligned with slots in the module so that one point remains closed while one point opens due to lead insertion. Ribs may also be provided to guide the lead insertion and control deflection of the leads and stems.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 1995Date of Patent: August 27, 1996Assignee: Lucent Technologies Inc.Inventors: William C. Patent number: 5136121Abstract: Disclosed is a cable terminal with improved features. Drop wires are sealed by a flexible sheet with an array of slits provided on a major surface of a pair of plates. The slits are positioned and oriented so that when the plates are in a closed position, the sheet will overlap to produce a pair of angled slits at each drop wire location. The housing forming the terminal block enclosure and a portion of the cable housing is made from a single molded piece with holes for mounting different types of terminal blocks. The terminal block enclosure is covered by a door which provides moisture protection when closed. A spring attached to the door keeps it in an opened position while a craftsperson is working on the blocks. The cable housing includes end pieces which accommodate a number of different sealing options for the cable.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 1991Date of Patent: August 4, 1992Assignee: AT&T Bell LaboratoriesInventors: Theodore E.
