    Abstract: A disposable diaper having a stretchable waistband having a topsheet provided with means for passing liquid therethrough, a water impermeable backsheet and an absorbent pad disposed therebetween, one of said topsheet or backsheet being fabricated from a water impermeable stretchable plastic film having end portions extending beyond said absorbent pad, each end portion being folded upon itself and adhered to itself to form a stretchable waistband for the diaper.
