  • Patent number: 6135632
Abstract: A static mixing dispenser provides a circuitous flowpath for plural components to be mixed between the inlet and the outlet of a conduit. Coextensive exterior sheets forming a tube can be attached to an interior sheet having openings communicating through the interior sheet. The sheets are sealed together at interior obstructions, forming mixing stages that subdivide and recombine the stream of material. The interior obstructions comprise sheets having openings formed through the thickness of each sheet. The openings each have a flap of sheet material, the partial detachment of which from the sheet forms the opening, leaving a connection of limited area around which the flap can pivot.

  • Patent number: 5618130
Abstract: A roadway marker or other article has a narrow slot through which a tab associated with a static mixing container is passed. Before placing the marker, the mixing container is drawn manually through the slot toward one side, thereby bursting internal seals or walls in the mixing container that separate two or more adhesive components, forcing the components to flow and mix, and finally to discharge the mixed adhesive onto the opposite surface of the marker in the correct mix proportions and quantity needed to attach the marker in place. The mixing container is flexibly collapsible and when initially containing the components has a larger cross section than the slot. A pull tab extends from the container for pulling the container though the slot or passageway.

  • Patent number: 5516209
Abstract: A static mixing device includes a disposable mixing conduit, a rigid, reusable housing for supporting the mixing conduit, and a reusable coupling for attaching an inlet of the mixing conduit to an outlet of a source of flowable components to be mixed. The mixing conduit provides a circuitous flowpath for the components between the inlet and outlet. At least two facing sheets of material (or the opposite walls of a tube), at least one of the sheets being flexible, are sealed together at interior obstructions, forming mixing stages that subdivide and recombine the stream of material. The rigid housing can be bayonet shaped or cylindrical, and forms an applicator with the flexible mixing device. The coupling can capture the inlet end of the mixing conduit.

  • Patent number: 4952068
Abstract: A device for mixing plural flowable components is formed from opposing sheets of material defining a flexible multicomponent squeeze container. Seams join the perimeter of opposing sheets to form a flexible container, with at least one wall dividing the container into at least two storage compartments for the flowing components and at least one further downstream wall for mixing. External pressure on the container forces the plural components to combine in an initial mixing area along a flowpath in the container downstream of the wall dividing the compartments. The at least one further dividing wall is positioned between the initial mixing area and a container outlet. The stream of flowing material separates and then re-combines one or more times prior to exit from the container, whereby the extent of mixing is improved. The wall dividing the container into storage compartments and/or the at least one further dividing wall can be formed by adhering facing portions of flexible flat sheets together.

  • Patent number: 4262820
Abstract: An applicator for hot melt adhesives. The applicator comprises a heat exchange barrel having a nozzle at one end and an opening at the other end for receiving a stick of hot melt adhesive, the barrel being attached to a cigarette lighter in heat transfer relation with its flame, so that when the adhesive stick is forced through the barrel in the presence of the flame, molten adhesive flows from the nozzle.
