  • Patent number: 6173623
Abstract: A dual speed film drive apparatus to achieve high speed and low speed film drive employs a limited speed range stepper motor with pinion input drive gear, and an output driven gear connected to a film advance mechanism. High and low speed drive is achieved by use of a pivoted intermediate gear drive module having high speed and low speed gear set positions to interconnect the stepper motor input drive gear to the output driven gear. Shifting of the gear module between gear set positions is accomplished by a DC motor operated cam drive mechanism which pivots the gear module selectively between the high speed and low speed gear set positions. An open loop control gear mesh procedure is also described for meshing the high speed and low speed intermediate gear drives with the input drive gear and output driven gear.

  • Patent number: 6117805
Abstract: Ceramic guide rails for guiding photographic film into a perforating machine are disclosed. The ceramic includes zirconium oxide and yttria in a molar ratio of yttria to zirconium oxide of from about 3:97 to about 5:95. The zirconium oxide is essentially the tetragonal phase crystal grain. In an alternate embodiment of the present invention the outer surface of the zirconium oxide is altered to the cubic phase crystal grain or the monoclinic crystal grain.

  • Patent number: 5908712
Abstract: An improved ware plate useful for materials feeder equipment, and the like, includes highly efficient, durable and wear and abrasion resistant sliding surface for slidably contacting elements of the feeder equipment. In particular, the ware plate has a tetragonal zirconia polycrystal ceramic sliding surface for contacting an element of the feeder equipment having a zirconia-alumina ceramic composite sliding surface. Alternatively, the sliding surface of the ware plate is zirconia-alumina ceramic composite for sliding contact with the element of the feeder equipment having a tetragonal zirconia polycrystal ceramic sliding surface.

  • Patent number: 5900328
Abstract: An improved materials transporting element useful for transporting materials in sliding contact with a ware plate, for instance in materials feeder equipment, has a high precision, durable, wear and abrasion resistant sliding surface. The transporting element may have a tetragonal zirconia polycrystal ceramic sliding surface for reciprocal sliding contact with the ware plate having a zirconia-alumina sliding surface. Alternatively, the transporting element may have a zirconia-alumina ceramic composite sliding surface with the ware plate having a tetragonal zirconia polycrystal ceramic sliding surface.

  • Patent number: 5885626
Abstract: An improved die retaining element has a highly efficient, durable and wear and abrasion resistant flange portion surrounding an opening for securing a die mold therein. The flange portion may have practically any geometric configuration, such as round, but is most effective when in a continuous plane with the powder feed box in sliding contact with a feed box. In particular, the flange portion may selectively have either a high precision tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (TZP) ceramic or zirconia-alumina ceramic composite, depending on the surface material of the feeder box in sliding contact therewith. In one embodiment, the flange portion has tetragonal zirconia polycrystal ceramic and the feeder box has zirconia-alumina ceramic composite sliding surface. In another embodiment, flange portion has a zirconium-alumina ceramic composite sliding portion and the feeder box has a tetragonal zirconia polycrystal ceramic sliding portion.

  • Patent number: 5520601
Abstract: A ceramic conveyance roller having a tetragonal phase crystal grain structure includes zirconium oxide and yttria and the molar ratio of yttria to zirconium oxide of from about 3:97 to about 5:95. The outer surface of the ceramic roller has a dimensional tolerance of less than 0.003 inches and the inner surface has a dimensional tolerance of less than 0.0005 inches. The outer surface of the roller can be modified to the cubic phase crystal grain or the monoclinic phase crystal grain.
