    Abstract: An oscillating flux transformer for transforming relatively large blocks of electrical power at power frequencies in direct accordance with the turn ratio of toroidal primary and secondary windings. The transformer includes a core-coil assembly having a poloidal winding in addition to primary and secondary toroidal windings, with the poloidal and toroidal windings being disposed on a magnetic core which is in the form of a closed loop or torus. Direct current in the poloidal winding establishes an equilibrium position of a saturation induction phasor. The AC flux produced by the toroidal primary winding combines vectorially with the DC flux to cause the induction phasor to oscillate about the equilibrium position, with an angular excursion responsive to the magnitude of the voltage applied to the toroidal primary winding.

    Abstract: A rotating flux transformer having at least two magnetic cores, each in the form of a torus, with each magnetic core having poloidal and toroidal windings. The need for breaking the torus and bringing out leads from the poloidal winding is eliminated by passing each torus through the core window of the remaining torus, or tori. Each poloidal winding is shorted, with the toroidal winding, or windings, of the other magnetic core or cores, inducing an excitation voltage into each shorted poloidal winding which is 90.degree. out of phase with the voltage applied to the toroidal winding on the same magnetic core.

    Abstract: A three phase core form transformer for use in a three phase dual dynamic stabilizer system that provides reactive power compensation. The transformer has a three legged magnetic core, a plurality of primary windings corresponding to the phases, two auxiliary secondary windings per phase that are wound to provide first and second common bifilar portions, and a plurality of principal secondary windings corresponding to the number of primary windings. The first common bifilar portion, the principal secondary winding, the second common bifilar portion and the primary winding are placed coaxially and radially adjacent, in the recited order, starting from each leg of the magnetic core.The primary windings are connected in delta. The principal secondary windings and auxiliary secondary windings are connected in a forked wye wherein one auxiliary secondary winding of each of the other two phases is electrically connected to the free end of each of the wye connected principal secondary windings.

    Abstract: A phase-shift transformer circuit providing advance or retard phase shift at any predetermined phase shift angle. The phase shift angle is determined by the ratio of the main and short windings of the transformer primary. Two links are used to provide advance or retard phase shift. One transformer winding is connected directly to a phase conductor of the three-phase power system. The remaining two transformer windings are connected to the remaining two phase conductors via the links. The links are movable such that in the advance configuration, the phase two conductor is connected to one of the transformer windings and the phase three conductor is connected to the other. In the retard phase-shift configuration, the links are moved so that the connections are reversed.

    Abstract: A rectifier transformer circuit permitting six-phase double-wye operation with 120.degree. conduction, (without the use of an interphase transformer), and providing any predetermined degree of phase shift. The transformer comprises a zig-zag wye primary winding and a six-phase star secondary winding. By choosing the proper ratio for the turns of the zig and zag portions of the primary winding, any degree of phase shift can be obtained. The rectifier transformer is ideally suited for multiple-phase installations wherein several rectifier transformers are used, each providing a different amount of phase shift, without the use of separate phase-shift transformers.

    Abstract: A self-saturating electrical reactor has a magnetic core located within a casing. A gate winding has at least one turn on the magnetic core and is accessible from outside of the casing. A bundled conductor containing a plurality of individual conductors has at least one turn on the magnetic core. The individual conductors form a plurality of single turn windings which are accessible from outside of the casing such that the configuration of the D.C. control and bias windings is determinable by the field wiring.

The new and improved magnetic cores are of the stacked type, and they utilize different step-lap joints between selected yoke and leg members of the magnetic core. The new and improved methods include the steps of prestacking the leg members, stacking the bottom yoke member while the legs are substantially horizontally oriented, starting at one side of the leg members and progressing to the other side, and stacking the upper yoke member while the legs are substantially vertically oriented, starting from substantially the midpoints of the leg members and progressing outwardly in opposite directions.

    Abstract: Phase angle regulator for high voltage power distribution systems. An electrical transformer having inductively coupled series and regulating windings is provided with the series windings connected between a source of electrical power and an electrical load circuit and the regulating winding connected to an excitation transformer which, when excited, causes a voltage to be induced in the series windings which is in quadrature with the line conductor voltages. Auxiliary windings, one of which is arranged in a partial interconnected star configuration with each regulating winding, are connected to a regulating winding in a different phase of the series transformer to cause the voltage induced in the respective series winding to be phase shifted to a predetermined electrical angle with respect to the line voltage which minimizes the variation between the load and source voltages over the range of phase shifts provided by the phase angle regulator.
