Abstract: A prover to calibate flow meters is disclosed which includes a cylinder and by-pass valve in parallel flow paths, both in a series flow path with the meter to be proved. A piston is disposed to traverse the cylinder exiting the upstream end into an enlarged area while supported by an outrigger and exiting the downstream end into a second enlarged area while supported by a rod rigidly attached to the piston. The rod passes through a seal and bearing in the wall of the enlarged area and out into an auxiliary chamber which is floatingly mounted and can be controllably pressurized. The rod has marks, corresponding to a calibrated volume in the cylinder, which are detected by a detector. Included are provisions for ease of assembly, operation, and maintenance; for monitoring the cylinder-piston, the piston-rod, and the by-pass valve seals; and for proving meters to near-whole cycles.

Abstract: A device for attaching insulator pods to wires having terminals thereon which is mounted on, for operation with, a wire cutter. A vibratory bowl arranges pods in position for attachment to the terminal on the wire, and wire grippers and terminal grippers are provided for holding the wire and terminal as the pod is attached to the terminal. A pneumatic cylinder moves the pod from the arranged position onto the terminal. As the pod is moved onto the terminal, the terminal gripper is encountered and is moved rearwardly on the terminal for a distance and then away from the terminal, permitting the pod to be slid fully onto the terminal. A set screw disposed between the wire gripper and terminal gripper is encountered by the pod as the pod is slid onto the terminal and causes the pod to angle upward slightly, thereby locking the pod in place on the terminal.

Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for cutting open a blow-molded container such as a refuse can. A pair of knife blades are pivotally mounted to a knife which is pivotal about an axis orthogonal to the axis of pivot of the blades. The knife has a pair of cam followers for guiding it around the container by following a cam track conforming to the shape of the article.
