  • Patent number: 5964534
Abstract: A bag of flexible material for packaging an edible food product and supporting the food product for eating has a closed bottom and an open top for receiving a food product. A wall of the bag is adapted to be opened between the top end and a location spaced above the bottom end of the bag, whereby a closed pouch is formed below the location by which a consumer can hold the food product and wherein the portion of the bag above the location is foldable outwardly about the pouch to provide a skirt covering the consumer's hand.

  • Patent number: 5939123
Abstract: Dry whole wheat grains are prepared for eating by preheating water to a temperature above a predetermined cooking temperature for said grains, adding a given weight of grains at ambient temperature to the preheated water to lower the temperature thereof to the cooking temperature, maintaining the water at the cooking temperature and cooking the grains at the cooking temperature for a period of time which provides for the weight of the grains to increase by from about 37.6% to about 64.1%, and then immediately cooling the cooked grains to preclude further cooking thereof.

  • Patent number: 5138748
Abstract: A closure for closing the folded open end of a bag comprises a tri-laminate of thin relatively rigid plastic material having planar opposite sides and an edge therebetween. The closure is provided with an opening through the opposite sides of the tri-laminate and an entrance passage to the opening from the edge and which entrance passage has a non-linear profile in the direction between the opposite sides of the tri-laminate. The closed end of a bag is introduced into the opening through the entrance passage which distorts the folded end of the bag to the non-linear profile, thereby frictionally holding the closure on the bag and perpendicular to the crease line of the fold.

  • Patent number: 4861957
Abstract: A package for microwave heating of food products includes a multi-layer sheet material having a first paper layer defining an exterior portion of the assembled package. A metallized polyester is laminated to the paper layer and defines the interior portion of the assembled package. A plurality of pinholes extend completely through the sheet material. Peripheral regions of the sheet material are left free of any pinholes to receive an adhesive for securing the sheet material to itself and form the completed package. Absence of the pinholes inhibits passage of the adhesive to the interior of the assembled package.

  • Patent number: 4379538
Abstract: An article supporting device adhesively mountable on a surface such as the dashboard of a vehicle is formed from thin flexible plastic material to have integral mounting and strap portions, the strap portion being displaceable into a loop configuration for supporting an article such as a litter bag. The mounting portion is provided with an integral button, and the strap portion has an outer end provided with a slit to receive the button for the latter to retain the strap in the loop configuration. The strap portion is provided with a constraining member of plastic material integral therewith and positioned therealong to constrain the loop to have a generally uniform curvature under the weight of an article supported thereby. A litter bag stay device can be removably associated with the loop to engage against the back wall and between the side walls of a litter bag supported by the loop.

  • Patent number: 4099666
Abstract: A composite bag for crusted bread products is disclosed comprising a first portion in the form of a paper bag having a closed end and an open end, and a second portion of plastic film material bonded to and extending from the open end of the paper bag and providing a closable opening for the composite bag. The second portion is defined by sheets of plastic film having different lengths longitudinally with respect to the open end of the paper bag and bonded to the paper bag for one of the films to extend longitudinally beyond the other and provide an extension flap which facilitates supporting the bag during insertion of a bread article thereinto. The composite bag is produced by transferring a preformed paper bag laterally with respect to the axis thereof between plastic sheets which are bonded to the open end of the bag and then longitudinally seamed along lines contiguous with side edge folds of the paper bag.
