Patent number: 11544274Abstract: An electronic device that includes one or more input sensor devices, one or more output devices, one or more computer processors and a memory containing computer program code that, when executed by operation of the one or more computer processors, performs an operation. The operation includes collecting information, using one or more input sensor devices, about the plurality of users within a physical environment. The operation includes analyzing the collected information to determine a present situational context for the plurality of users that are currently present within the physical environment. An action to perform is determined based on the determined present situational context. The determined action is executed using the one or more output devices.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 2017Date of Patent: January 3, 2023Assignee: Disney Enterprises, Inc.Inventors: Afsoun R. Yazdian, Michelle Blanken, Olivia K. De Carlo, Theodore Wei-Yun Leung

Patent number: 10067557Abstract: Embodiments provide a system that includes a first interactive device and control logic configured to perform an operation. The operation includes receiving historical data describing historical interactions between a user and one or more interactive devices. Additionally, the operation includes configuring the first interactive device with one or more interactive events. Each interactive event includes a respective (i) stimulus event and (ii) an action to perform responsive to an occurrence of the stimulus event, and at least one of the one or more interactive events is based on the received historical data. Responsive to detecting an occurrence of a first one of the one or more stimulus events, the operation includes causing the first interactive device to perform the corresponding action. The operation also includes updating the first interactive device with a second one or more interactive events.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2013Date of Patent: September 4, 2018Assignee: Disney Enterprises, Inc.Inventors: Gabriel Schlumberger, Joseph O. Garlington, Theodore Wei-Yun Leung

Patent number: 9914057Abstract: Techniques for providing an immersive storytelling experience using a plurality of storytelling devices. Each of the storytelling devices may be configured to perform one or more actions based on a current context of a story and in response to a stimulus event. The actions include at least one of an auditory and a visual effect. Embodiments also provide a controller device configured to manage a playback of the story, by adjusting the stimulus event and the effect of each of the plurality of storytelling devices, based on the current context of the story, thereby creating an interactive and immersive storytelling experience.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2017Date of Patent: March 13, 2018Assignee: Disney Enterprises, Inc.Inventors: Eric Wilson Muhlheim, Eric Charles Haseltine, Joseph O'Brien Garlington, Theodore Wei-Yun Leung, Gabriel Sebastian Schlumberger

Patent number: 5881219Abstract: A method, apparatus, and article of manufacture for a computer-implemented random reliability engine for testing distributed computer environments. The random reliability engine performs reliability testing of applications in a distributed environment. The random reliability engine simulates a user who is invoking various commands in various documents that are open in the distributed environment. The random reliability engine is a random rule based engine that generates random sequences of commands on documents. The random reliability engine generates these sequences for a fixed amount of time. When these sequences are successfully executed within the fixed amount of time, the random reliability engine determines that the distributed environment is reliable. Moreover, the random reliability engine can be implemented as a graphical user interface test script that is executed by a graphical user interface driver.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 1996Date of Patent: March 9, 1999Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Theodore Wei-Yun Leung, Shoba Raj
